At Washington:
Goals from Joseph Ngwenya (61') and Dwayne De Rosario (74') enabled the Houston Dynamo to come from behind to defeat the New England Revolution 2-1 on Sunday to capture their second straight MLS Cup championship. The Dynamo defeated the Revs in last year's title game in the penalty-kick shootout. For New England, this was the third straight year, and the fourth in the last six that they have lost the Major League Soccer championship game. Taylor Twellman, at 20 minutes, scored the lone New England goal.

On Friday, Major League Soccer awarded an expansion franchise to Seattle, which is slated to start playing at Qwest Field beginning in 2009, and will be part-owned by Microsoft co-founder (and Seattle Seahawks and Portland Trail Blazers owner) Paul Allen.
At Houston:
Goals from Nick Jaqua (35') and Dwayne De Rosario (81') powered the Houston Dynamo to a 2-0 home win over the Kansas City Wizards to set up a rematch with the New England Revolution in MLS Cup 2007 which will be played next Sunday at Washington. The Dynamo defeated the Revs in last year's Major League Soccer title match in the penalty-kick shootout.

At Foxboro, Massachusetts:
Taylor Twellman's goal at 38 minutes lifted the New England Revolution to a 1-0 home win over the Chicago Fire on Thursday to win the Eastern Conference final and gain their third consecutive Major League Soccer Cup final appearance. They will play the winner of Saturday's Kansas City-Houston match, with the final to played at Washington on November 18.
Los Angeles:
The Los Angeles Galaxy on Thursday named former Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Feyenoord Rotterdam coach Ruud Gullit as their new head coach. The former European footballer (or soccer player) of the year succeeds Frank Yallop, who resigned to become head coach of the revived San Jose Earthquakes.
There were two coaching developments in Major League Soccer on Monday:
Frank Yallop officially resigned as head coach of the Los Angeles Galaxy and will take a similar position with the newly-revived San Jose Earthquakes, who will return to MLS as an expansion club next season.
Bruce Arena stepped down as head coach and sporting director of the New York Red Bulls.

Taylor Twellman score the only goal of the match at 64 minutes to lift the New England Revolution to 1-0 home win over the New York Red Bulls in game two of their Eastern Conference two-game, total goals semifinal series, and thus, winning the series 1-0 on aggregate.
At Carson, California:
By holding hosts Chivas USA to a 0-0 draw in game two, thanks to their earlier 1-0 home win, the Kansas City Wizards advanced to the Western Conference final with a 1-0 win on aggreate.
At Houston:
Despite dropping the opening match of their two-game total-goals series with FC Dallas, the Houston Dynamo, with Brian Ching scoring twice (72', 97') and Stuart Holden (66') and Brad Davis (100') each tallying once, came back to bludgeon their upstate rivals 4-1 in overtime on Friday to take their two-game set 4-2 on aggregate. Carlos Ruiz scored the lone Dallas goal at 14 minutes.
At Washington:
Goals scored on Thursday by Chad Barrett (31') and Chris Rolfe (33') enabled the visiting Chicago Fire to hold off DC United and advance to the semifinal round of the Major League Soccer playoffs by gaining a 2-2 road draw and winning their two-game series, 3-2 on aggregate. Clyde Simms (69') and Christian Gomez (74') scored for DC United in their valiant effort to come back in the series.
