Europa League: Benfica, Juve, Sevilla, Valencia Advance To Semis

Four games were contested on Thursday as the quarterfinal round of the Europa League came to a close.

At Valencia, Spain:

Paco Alcacer scored twice (38', 70') in regulation time of game two as Valencia battled back from their series-opening 3-0 road defeat to blank visiting FC Basel 3-0 in the second game to deadlock the series at 3-3 on aggregate to force overtime.  Paco scored what proved to be the series-winning goal in overtime (113') as the hosts finally ousted the Swiss club 5-3 on aggregate and advance to the semifinal round.

At Seville, Spain:

Ivan Rakitic (PK-5'), Vitolo (26'), Carlos Bacca (30'), and Kevin Gameiro (79') each produced a goal as Sevilla overcame their 1-0 series-opening road defeat with a 4-1 home domination of FC Porto in game two and took out the Portuguese club 4-2 on aggregate.

At Turin, Italy:

Andrea Pirlo (4') and Samuel Umtiti (OG-68') provided the scoring as Juventus defeated visiting Lyon 2-1 in game two and won their two-match series 3-1 on aggregate.

At Lisbon, Portugal:

Rodrigo scored twice (39', 72') as SL Benfica blanked visiting AS Alkmaar 2-0 in the second contest of their series as the Eagles eliminated the Dutch club 3-0 on aggregate.
