MLS: Hoops, RSL Win On Three-Draw Independence Day

Five games were contested in Major League Soccer on Friday.

At Houston:

Brad Davis converted a penalty kick in the 82nd minute as the Houston Dynamo salvaged a 2-2 home draw with the New York Red Bulls. Giles Barnes opened the scoring for the Dynamo in the opening minute, while Bradley Wright-Phillips delivered both of the Red Bulls' goals (13', 72')

At Frisco, Texas:

Sheanon Williams' own goal in the 49th minute carried FC Dallas to a 2-1 home win over the Philadelphia Union.

At Sandy, Utah:

Javier Morales (35') and Joao Plata (65') both converted penalty kicks as Real Salt Lake defeated the visiting New England Revolution 2-1.

At Commerce City, Colorado:

Ethan Finlay's equalizer enabled the Columbus Crew to gain a 1-1 road draw with the Colorado Rapids.  An own goal by the Crew's Eric Gehrig in the 59th minute provided the Rapids' lone score.

At Carson, California:

An own goal from Rauwshan McKenzie in the 86th minute lifted the Los Angeles Galaxy to a 2-2 home draw with the Portland Timbers.  Marcelo Sarvas opened the scoring for the Galaxy in the 65th minute, while Diego Valeri (67') and Jorge Villafana (71') produced goals for the visiting Timbers.
