MLS: Dynamo, Timbers Rack Up Wednesday Wins

Two games were contested in Major League Soccer on Wednesday.

At Toronto:

Giles Barnes scored the only goal of the match in the 35th minute as the Houston Dynamo helped their MLS Cup playoff chances with a 1-0 road win over Toronto FC, despite losing A.J. Cochran to a red-card ejection in the 55th minute.  Tyler Deric came up huge for the Dynamo as the goalkeeper saved Jermaine Defoe's second-half penalty kick.

At Portland, Oregon:

Goals from Rodney Wallace (41') and Diego Valeri (PK-51', 74') propelled the Portland Timbers back into the Western Conference's fifth and final playoff berth with two regular-season games remaining following their 3-0 home domination of the depleted San Jose Earthquakes.  Veteran goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts picked up his fifth shutout of the league season.
