AFC Champions League

Eight games were played in the group stage of the AFC Champions League on Wednesday.

GROUP A:

At Tehran, Iran:

Mehdi Taromi's successfully-converted 61st-minute penalty kick carried Persepolis to a 1-0 home win over Al-Nassr.

At Doha, Qatar:

Vladimir Weiss scored the only goal of the match in the 43rd minute as Lekhwiya defeated visiting FC Bunyodkor 1-0, placing the Uzbek club on the cusp of elimination.

Group A Standings:

2. Lekhwiya FC (GP: 4; GD: -1; PTS: 7)
3. Al Nassr (GP: 4; GD: +2; PTS: 5)

GROUP C:

At Tashkent, Uzbekistan:

Marat Bikmaev scored twice (7', 14') as Lokomotiv Tashkent destroyed visiting Al-Sadd 5-0.

At Riyadh, Saudi Arabia:

Nasser Al Shamrani (46') and Yasir Al Shahrani (6') each scored a goal as Al-Hilal FC blanked visiting Foolad FC 2-0.

Group C Standings:

1. Al-Sadd (GP: 4; GD: 0; PTS: 7)
2. Al-Hilal (GP: 4; GD: +3; PTS: 7)
3. Lokomotiv Tashkent (GP: 4; GD: -1; PTS: 4)
4. Foolad FC (GP: 4; GD: -2; PTS: 3)

NOTE: Al-Sadd has a 1-0 victory over Al-Hilal in the first of two encounters during group-stage play thus far.



GROUP E STANDINGS:

At Jinan, China:

Leandro Montera da Silva (23'), Masato Kudo (29'), and Cristiano da Silva (32', 76') delivered the goals to carry Kashiwa Reysol to a 4-4 road draw with Shandong Luneng Taishan.  Wang Yongpo (4'), Junior Urso (34'), Walter Montillo (37'), and Yang Xu (PK-49') each scored once for the hosts.

At Thu Dau Mot, Vietnam:

Abass Cheikh Dieng delivered the equalizer in the third minute of second-half stoppage time as Becamex Binh Duong gained a 1-1 home draw with Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, still not enough to avoid elimination from the tournament.  Eninho scored for the South Korea club in the 31st minute.

Group E Standings:

1.    Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors (GP: 4; GD: +6; PTS: 8)
2.    Kashiwa Reysol (GP: 4; GD: +5; PTS: 8)
3.    Shandong Luneng Taishan FC (GP: 4; GD: -3; PTS: 4)

GROUP G:

At Saitama, Japan:

Tomoaki Makino's equalizer in the 74th minute enabled Urawa Red Diamonds to salvage a 1-1 home draw with Beijing Guoan.  Yu Dabao scored for the Chinese club in the 33rd minute.

At Suwon, South Korea:

Kwon Chang-hoon (51'), Seo Jung-jin (59'), and Yeom Ki-hun (65') each scored a second-half goal as Suwon Samsung Bluewings defeated the visiting Brisbane Roar 3-1.

Group G Standings:

1. Beijing Guoan (GP: 4; GD: +4; PTS: 10)
2. Suwon Samsung Bluewings (GP: 4; GD: +2; PTS: 7)
3. Brisbane Roar (GP: 4; GD: -2; PTS: 4)
