Canadian Championship: FC Edmonton Way Too Much For Ottawa Fury

The preliminary round of the Amway Canadian Championship took place in late April as two North American Soccer League clubs battled for the right to enter the semifinal round.

At Ottawa, Ontario:

On April 22, Daryl Fordyce (83'), Lance Laing (87'), and Tomi Ameobi (90'+4) each scored once as FC Edmonton took the opening match of their two game series with the Ottawa Fury 3-1 on the road.

At Edmonton, Alberta:

This past Wednesday, Tomi Ameobi (9'), Sainey Nyassi (15'), and Daryl Fordyce (PK-81') each scored a goal as FC Edmonton again defeated the visiting Ottawa Fury 3-1 in game two and won the series 6-2 on aggregate.  The club from Alberta's provincial capital will take on the Vancouver Whitecaps in a two-match semifinal series, opening this coming Wednesday in Edmonton with the return contest to take place in Vancouver on May 13.

The Montreal Impact and Toronto FC will take part in the other two game series, starting this Wednesday in Montreal, with the return contest to take place on May 13 at Toronto.

The semifinal winners will face off in a two-match final to take place on August 12 and August 25 with the winner advancing to the 2016-17 CONCACAF Champions League.
