Europa League: Molde, Dortmund, Napoli, Rapid Vienna Lock Up Berths in Knockout Stage; Dinamo Minsk, Groningen Eliminated

The second half of Europa League group-stage action opened on Thursday.

GROUP A:

At Glasgow, Norway:

Daniel Hestad scored the game-winning goal in the 37th minute as Molde FK locked up a berth in the knockout stage with a 2-1 road win over Celtic.

At Amsterdam, Netherlands:

Fenerbahce gained a 0-0 road stalemate with Ajax Amsterdam.

At Kazan, Russia:

Jordan Ibe scored the only goal of the match in the 52nd minute as Liverpool defeated FC Rubin Kazan 1-0 on the road.

At Sion, Switzerland:

Clement Chantome's own goal in the fourth minute of second-half stoppage time carried FC Sion to a 1-1 home draw with Bordeaux.  Thomas Toure scored for the Girondins in the 67th minute.

Joaozinho's successful penalty kick in the 67th minute carried FC Krasnodar to a 2-1 home victory over PAOK FC.

At Dortmund, Germany:

Marco Reus got the scoring going in the 28th minute as Borussia Dortmund demolished visiting Gabala 4-0 and laid claim to a berth in the knockout stage.

Thomas Meunier scored the only goal of the match in the 38th minute as Club Brugge defeated visiting Legia Warsaw 1-0 and put the Polish club on the brink of elimination.

At Naples, Italy:

Manolo Gabbiadini scored twice (23', 38') as Napoli destroyed visiting FC Midtjylland 5-0 and clinched a knockout-stage berth.

Syarhey Palitsevich's own goal in the 86th minute proved fatal to FC Dinamo Minsk's European campaign as the hosts fell 2-1 to Villarreal, placing the Yellow Submarine just one point away from the Round of 32.

At Plzen, Czech Republic:

Philipp Schobesberger scored twice (13', 77') as Rapid Vienna locked up a berth in the Europa League's knockout stage with their 2-1 road win over FC Viktoria Plzen.

Georges-Kevin N'Koudou scored the only goal of the match in the 39th minute as Marseille prevented visiting Sporting Braga from clinching a knockout-stage berth with a 1-0 victory over the Portuguese club.

At Groningen, Netherlands:

Sergio Padt's own goal in the 81st minute delivered a 1-0 road win for FC Slovan Liberec over Groningen as the Dutch club were eliminated from the tournament.

Filip Dordevic scored twice (9', 29') as Lazio blanked Rosenborg 2-0 on the road, with the visiting Eagles one point away from a berth in the knockout stage and the Trond Kids on the cusp of elimination.

At Saint-Etienne, France:

Kevin Monnet-Paquet (38'), Robert Beric (52'), and Romain Hamouma (65') each scored a goal as Saint-Etienne dominated visiting FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk 3-0.

Group G Standings:

Baye Oumar Niasse's equalizer in the 76th minute lifted Lokomotiv Moscow to a 1-1 road draw with Besiktas.  Ricardo Quaresma scored for the Black Eagles in the 58th minute.

At Elbasan, Albania:

Sabien Lilaj scored twice (15', PK-19') as Skenderbeu Korce dominated visiting ten-man Sporting CP 3-0.  The three points were the first-ever UEFA club competition points for the Snow Wolves (or for any Albanian club for that matter).

Marc Janko (PK-45'+1) and Breel Embolo (64') produced the goals as FC Basel blanked Belenenses 2-0 on the road.

At Poznan, Poland:

Josip Ilicic scored both goals (42', 83') in Fiorentina's 2-0 road blanking of Lech Poznan.

At London:

Mouse Dembele scored the game winner in the 87th minute as Tottenham Hotspur defeated visiting RSC Anderlecht 2-1.

2. AS Monaco (GP: 4; GD: +1; PTS: 6)

NOTE:  Qarabag defeated visiting RSC Anderlecht 1-0 in the first of the clubs' two group-stage games on October 1.

At Prague, Czech Republic:

Johannes Geis' successfully executed penalty kick in the 20th minute lifted Schalke to a 1-1 road draw with Sparta Prague.  David Lafata scored for the Maroons in the sixth minute.  The draw kept the Royal Blues from punching their tickets to the knockout stage.

At Tripoli, Greece:

Facundo Bertoglio (2') and Apostolos Giannou (45'+1) delivered the goals as Asteras Tripoli blanked visiting APOEL FC 2-0.

Group K Standings:

Raul Bobadilla produced a hat trick (24', 33', 74') as FC Augsburg manhandled visiting AZ Alkmaar 4-1.

At Bilbao, Spain:

Inaki Williams scored twice (15', 19') as Athletic Bilbao demolished visiting Partizan Belgrade 5-1.
