Anthony Laffor (31'), Tebogo Langeman (40'), and Islam Gamal (OG-46') each produced a goal on Saturday as Mamelodi Sundowns dominated visiting Zamalek 3-0 in the opening match of the two-game CAF Champions League final.
The series will conclude next Sunday at Alexandria, Egypt.
The winner will take part in December's FIFA Club World Cup, set to take place in Japan.
