Europa League

The quarterfinal round of the Europa League commenced on Thursday with four games.

At Brussels, Belgium:

Leander Dendoncker's equalizer in the 86th minute lifted RSC Anderlecht to a series-opening 1-1 home draw with Manchester United.  Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored for the Red Devils in the 37th minute.

At Vigo, Spain:

John Guidetti scored the winning goal in the 38th minute as Celta Vigo held off KRC Genk 3-2 in the opening match of their two-game series, which is still very much up in the air.

At Amsterdam, Netherlands:

Davy Klassen scored twice (PK-23', 52') as Ajax Amsterdam blanked visiting Schalke 04 2-0 in the opening match of their two-game series.

At Decines-Charpieu, France:

In a contest which saw its' opening kickoff delayed by 45 minutes due to crowd disturbances, Corentin Tolisso (83') and Jeremy Morel (84') each scored a second-half goal a minute apart as Lyon upended visiting Besiktas 2-1 in game one of their two-match series.  Ryan Babel scored for the visiting Black Eagles in the 15th minute.
