UEFA Champions League: Road To Kiev Begins

Four games were contested on Tuesday as the opening round of UEFA Champions League qualifying commenced.

At Torshavn, Faroe Islands:

Gunnar Vatnhamar (17') and Adeshina Lawal (73') each scored a goal as Vikingur Gota defeated visiting Trepca'89 2-1 in the opening contest of their two-game series.  Fiton Hajdari scored in the 39th minute for the visitors, the first-ever club from Kosovo to take part in a European club tournament.

At Paola, Malta:

Jorge Pereira da Silva----a.k.a. Jorginho---(63') and Bjorn Kristensen (73') each scored a second-half goal as Hibernians blanked visiting FCI Tallinn 2-0 in their series opener.

At Yerevan, Armenia:

Uros Nenadovic scored the only goal of the match in the 39th minute as Alashkert FC defeated visiting FC Santa Coloma of Andorra 1-0 in the opening match of their two-game series.

At Oswestry, England:

Alex Quillo (8') and Kike Gomez (78') each scored once as Europa FC from Gibraltar knocked off The New Saints 2-1 in their series opener.
