After Guangzhou Evergrande dominated visiting Shanghai SIPG 4-0 in regulation to square their two-game series at 4-4 on aggregate, and after each club scored one in overtime to square the series at 5-5 on aggregate, Hulk, Oscar, Wu Lei, Odil Ahmedov, and Yu Hai each converted a spot kick as Shanghai SIPG (who finished the match with nine men) won the penalty-kick shootout 5-4 to advance to the semifinal round.
West Region:
At Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (due to deteriorating Saudi-Iranian relations):
Ali Alipour (5'), Godwin Mensha (PK-83'), and Mehdi Taremi (90'+4) each scored once as Persepolis of Iran took game two of their series with Saudi Arabia's Al-Ahli 3-1 in game two and won their series 5-3 on aggregate.
