UEFA Champions League, Group F: Wins For Knockout-Stage Bound Bayern and Valencia; FC BATE To Europa League; Mastiffs Out Of Europe

Two games were played in Group F as UEFA Champions League group-stage action concluded.

At Villeneuve d'Ascq, France:




Jonas, with his successful penalty kick in the 36th minute (shown here), provided the only score in Round-of-16-bound Valencia's 1-0 road win over Lille, who saw their European campaign come to an end.


At Munich, Germany:




Thomas Muller (that's him here)scored what proved to be the winning goal in the 54th  minute as Bayern Munich won Group F after spanking Europa League-bound visiting FC BATE Borisov 4-1.

FINAL GROUP F STANDINGS:

1. Bayern Munich (GP: 6; GD: +8; PTS: 13)
2. Valencia (GP: 6; GD: +7; PTS: 13)
3. FC BATE Borisov (GP: 6; GD: -6; PTS: 6)
4. LOSC Lille Metropole (GP:6; GD: -9; PTS: 3)

Bayern Munich and Valencia advanced to the Champions League's knockout stage while FC BATE Borisov qualified for the knockout stage of the Europa League.

UEFA Champions League, Group F: Bayern, Valencia Clinch Round-of-16 Berths; FC BATE To Europa League; Mastiffs Out Of European Competition

Two Tuesday games were played in Group F of the UEFA Champions League.

At Minsk, Belarus:



Djibril Sidibe (14') and Gianni Bruno (31', that's him celebrating) each scored a goal as LOSC Lille Metropole ended FC BATE Borisov's flickering hopes of advancing to the Champions League's group stage with a 2-0 road win.  The Mastiffs have been eliminated from European competition while the Belarusian club will play in the Europa League's Round of 32.


At Valencia, Spain:



Thomas Muller's equalizer in the 82nd minute (that's him [right] celebrating with Mario Gomez [center] and Mario Mandzukic [left]) as Bayern Munich gained a 1-1 road draw with Valencia as both clubs locked up Champions League knockout-stage berths.  Sofiane Feghouli scored for the hosts in the 77th minute.

UEFA Champions League, Group F: Valencia, Bayern Win At Home; Mastiffs Eliminated

Action continued on Wednesday in Group F of the UEFA Champions League with two contests.

At Valencia, Spain:

Sofiane Feghouli scored twice (51',86') as Valencia doubled up visiting FC BATE Borisov 4-2.  Here, we see FC BATE's Dmitri Baga battling Valencia's Aly Cissokho for the ball.

At Munich, Germany:

Claudio Pizarro delivered a natural first-half hat trick (18',28', 33') as Bayern Munich demolised visiting Lille 6-1, eliminating the Mastiffs from the tournament.  Here's Claudio (L), celebrating with Bastien Schweinsteiger after the latter's firth-minute tally.

UEFA Champions League, Group F: Valencia Too Much For BATE; One Lone Goal Good Enough For Bayern

Action from Group F of the UEFA Champions League continued on Tuesday with two games:

At Minsk, Belarus:

BATE Borisov's Dmitri Likhtarovich (L) fights for the ball with Valencia's Aly Cissokho during their Champions League Group F match

Roberto Soldado's hat trick (PK-45'+1, 55', 69) proved to be all the scoring as Valencia brought FC BATE Borisov back to earth with a 3-0 beatdown on the road. Here, we see BATE's Dmitri Likhtarovich (in the blue uniform) battle Valencia's Aly Cissokho for the ball.

At Villeneuve d'Ascq, France:

Thomas Muller's 20th-minute penalty kick (that's him celebrating) was the lone goal of Bayern Munich's 1-0 road win over Lille.

Two games were played on Tuesday in action from Group F of the UEFA Champions League.

At Valencia, Spain:

UEFA Champions League, Group F: Historic Road Win In France For FC BATE; Home Win For Bayern

Two games were played on Wednesday as UEFA Champions League Group F action commenced.

At Villeneuve d'Ascq, France:

Alyaksandr Valdzko (6'), Vitali Rodionov (20', that's him mobbed by celebrating teammates), and Edhar Alyakhnovich (43') all scored first-half goals as FC BATE Borisov held off hosts Lille 3-1 for their first-ever Champions League group-stage victory.

At Munich, Germany:

Bastian Schweinsteiger (38', that's him celebrating here) and Toni Kroos (76') each scored a goal as Bayern Munich held off visiting Valencia.
