Copa Libertadores: It's Independiente del Valle Vs. Atletico Nacional For The Marbles

At Buenos Aires:

Luis Caicedo (25'), Bryan Cabezas (49'), and Julio Angulo (51') each scored a goal on Thursday as Independiente del Valle defeated Boca Juniors 3-2 on the road in the second game of a Copa Libertadores semifinal series and took out the Argentinian club 5-3 on aggregate.

The two match final will open next Wednesday at Quito, Ecuador as Independiente will host Atletico Nacional, with the return match to take place on July 27 at Medellin, Colombia.

The winner will play in December's FIFA Club World Cup, set to be staged in Japan.

Copa Libertadores: Atletico Nacional Oust Sao Paolo, Advance To Final

At Medellin, Colombia:
Miguel Borja scored twice (16', PK-78') as Atletico Nacional defeated visiting Sao Paulo 2-1 in game two of their Copa Libertadores semifinal series and took out the Brazilian club 4-1 on aggregate.

Atletico will face the winner of the Boca Juniors-Independiente del Valle series in the two-match final.

Copa Libertadores: Independiente del Valle Take Semifinal Opener From Boca

At Quito, Ecuador:

Bryan Cabezas (62') and Jose Angulo (76') each scored a second-half goal on Thursday as Independiente del Valle knocked off visiting Boca Juniors 2-1 in the opening game of their two-match Copa Libertadores semifinal series.

Pablo Perez scored for the Argentinian titans in the 13th minute.

In Wednesday's opening game of a two-match Copa Libertadores semifinal-round series, Miguel Borja scored twice (82', 86') as Atletico Nacional knocked off Sao Paulo FC 2-0 on the road.

Copa Libertadores: Independiente Top Pumas In PK Shootout To Advance

At Mexico City:

In the finale of the quarterfinal round of the Copa Libertadores on Tuesday, Ismael Sosa's double (15', 17') enabled Pumas to take game two of their series with Independiente del Valle 2-1 and square the series at 3-3 on aggregate.

However, with overtime dispensed with, the Ecuadorian club, with Gabriel Cortez, Emiliano Tellechea, Jose Angulo, Luis Caicedo Medina, and Arturo Mina all converting their spot kicks, won the penalty-kick shootout 5-3 to advance to the semifinal round.

Copa Libertadores: Boca, Atletico Nacional Advance To Semifinals

Two games were played on Thursday as the quarterfinal round of the Copa Libertadores continued.

At Buenos Aires:

After a 1-1 draw following regulation in game two (and with the aggregate score at 2-2) , with overtime dispensed with, Carlos Tevez, Daniel Diaz, Frank Fabra, and Federico Carrizo each converted a spot kick as Boca Juniors defeated visiting Club Nacional of Uruguay 4-3 in the penalty-kick shootout and advanced to the semifinal round.

At Medellin, Colombia:

MacNelly Torres (45'+2), Alejandro Guerra (50'), and Orlando Berrio (90'+5) each scored a goal as Atletico Nacional overcame their 1-0 game-one road defeat with a 3-1 game-two home victory over Rosario Central and ousted the Argentinian club 3-2 on aggregate.

Copa Libertadores: Despite Dropping Game-Two Decision On Road, Sao Paulo Advances To Semifinals

At Belo Horizonte, Brazil:

Maicon Pereira Roque scored the series-winning goal in the 14th minute on Wednesday as Sao Paulo, despite dropping a game-two road decision 2-1 to Atletico Mineiro, still won their Copa Libertadores quarterfinal-series with their fellow Brazilian club on away goals with the aggregate score at 2-2.

Copa Libertadores: Independiente del Valle Hold Off Pumas In Series Opener

At Quito, Ecuador:

In the lone Tuesday Copa Libertadores quarterfinal-round match, Jose Angulo scored twice (42', 55') as Independiente del Valle took the opening match of their series with Pumas 2-1 at home.  Fidel Martinez kept the visiting Mexican club alive with his goal in the 73rd minute.

Copa Libertadores: Club Nacional And Boca Battle To Series-Opening Draw; Rosario Central Take Game One Over Atletico Nacional

The quarterfinal round of the Copa Libertadores continued on Thursday with two games.

At Montevideo, Uruguay:

Sebastian Fernandez scored the equalizer in the 76th minute as Club Nacional salvaged a series-opening 1-1 home draw with Boca Juniors.  Frank Fabra scored for the Argentinian club in the 70th minute.

At Rosario, Argentina:

Walter Montoya scored the only goal of the match in the sixth minute as Rosario Central took the opening contest of their series with Atletico Nacional 1-0 at home.

In Wednesday's opening contest of the quarterfinal round of the Copa Libertadores, Michel Bastos scored the game's only goal in the 78th minute as Sao Paulo took game one of their two-match series with fellow Brazilian club Atletico Minerio 1-0 at home.

Copa Libertadores: Rosario Central, Boca Advance To Quarterfinals

The Round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores concluded on Thursday with two games.

At Rosario, Argentina:

Marco Ruben scored twice (4', PK-23') as Rosario Central defeated visiting Gremio 3-0 in game two and eliminated the Brazilian club 4-0 on aggregate.

At Buenos Aires:

Carlos Tevez (PK-3'), Cristian Pavon (72'), and Pablo Perez (88') each scored once as Boca Juniors downed visiting Cerro Porteno 3-1 in game two and won their two-match series 5-2 on aggregate.

The Copa Libertadores' Round of 16 continued on Wednesday with four games.

At Sao Paulo, Brazil:

Nicolas Lopez (4') and Santiago Romero (56') each scored a goal as Club Nacional gained a game-two 2-2 road draw with Corinthians, and with the aggregate score also at 2-2, advanced to the quarterfinals on away goals.

At Belo Horizonte, Brazil:

Lucas Pratto scored the game-and-series-winning goal in the 71st minute as Atletico Mineiro defeated visiting Racing Club de Avellaneda 2-1 in game two and eliminated the Argentinian club by that same score on aggregate.

At Toluca, Mexico:

Despite dropping a 3-1 game-two road decision, Sao Paulo still defeated Toluca 5-3 on aggregate.

At Buenos Aires:

Despite dropping a 1-0 game-two road decision to River Plate, Independiente del Valle still ousted the defending continental club champions 2-1 on aggregate.

The second half of the Copa Libertadores' Round of 16 commenced on Tuesday with two games.

At Medellin, Colombia:

Alejandro Guerra scored twice (57', 67') as Atletico Nacional doubled up visiting Club Atletico Huracan 4-2 in game two and won their series by that same score on aggregate.

At Mexico City:

Eduardo Herrera (12') and Ismael Sosa (80') produced the goals that enabled Pumas to overcome their series-opening road defeat with a 2-0 home victory in game two against Deportivo Táchira and a 2-1 series aggregate victory.

Three games were played on Thursday as the Round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores reached the midway point.

At Sangolqui, Ecuador:

Jose Angulo (64') and Junior Somoza (PK-90'+2) each scored a goal as Independiente Del Valle blanked visiting River Plate in the opening match of their two-game series.

At Sao Paulo, Brazil:

Adrian Ricardo Centurion scored twice (45', 61') as Sao Paulo demolished visiting Toluca 4-0 in the opening contest of their two game series.

At Asuncion, Paraguay:  

Nicolas Lodeiro scored the winning goal in the 60th minute as Boca Juniors defeated Cerro Porteno 2-1 on the road in match one.

The opening contest between Uruguay's Club Nacional and visiting Corinthians ended in a 0-0 stalemate.

At Avellaneda, Argentina:

The opening match between Racing Club de Avellaneda and visiting Atletico Mineiro concluded in a 0-0 deadlock.

At Porto Alegre, Brazil:

Copa Libertadores: Group Stage Play Ends With River Plate (Of Argentina) And Sao Paulo Advancing To The Knockout Stage

Two games were contested on Thursday as group-stage play in the Copa Libertadores came to a conclusion.

GROUP ONE:

At Buenos Aires:

Andres D'Alessandro (8', PK-18') scored twice as River Plate locked up top spot in Group One (as well as a knockout-stage berth) with their 4-3 home victory over Trujillanos.

At La Paz, Bolivia:

Jonathan Calleri's equalizer in the 44th minute lifted Sao Paulo to a 1-1 road draw with The Strongest and a berth in the knockout stage. Ernesto Cristaldo scored in the 29th minute for the Bolivian club, who saw their stay in the tournament come to an end.

Final Group One Standings:

1. River Plate, Argentina (GP: 6; GD: +10; PTS: 11)
2. Sao Paulo (GP: 6; GD: +6; PTS: 9)

Group-stage action in the Copa Libertadores is set to continue on Wednesday with four games.

GROUP THREE:

At Buenos Aires:

Carlos Tevez scored twice (38', 71') as Boca Juniors demolished visiting Deportivo Cali 6-2.

At La Paz, Bolivia:

Roger Martinez delivered the equalizer in the 73rd minute as Racing Club de Avellaneda locked up a berth in the knockout stage after gaining a 1-1 road draw with Club Bolivar.

Final Group Three Standings:

1. Boca Juniors (GP: 6; GD: +7; PTS: 12)
2. Racing Club de Avellaneda (GP: 6; GD: +4; PTS: 9)

Junior Alonso scored the only goal of the match in the 33rd minute as Cerro Porteno clinched a berth in the knockout stage by eliminating visiting Independiente Santa Fe 1-0.

The final week of Copa Libertadores group-stage play commenced on Tuesday with four games.

GROUP FOUR:

At Montevideo, Uruguay:

Hernan Novick scored twice (72', 80') as Penarol defeated visiting Sporting Cristal 4-3.  Nicolas Albarracin scored what proved to be the game-winning goal for the Uruguayan club in the 85th minute as the Peruvian club's participation in the tournament ended.

At Medellin, Colombia:

A 0-0 stalemate on the road against Atletico Nacional was good enough for Club Sport Huracan as the Argentinian club joined their hosts in the knockout stage.

Final Group Four Standings:

1. Atletico Nacional (GP: 6; GD: +12; PTS: 16)
2. Club Sport Huracan (GP: 6; GD: 0; PTS: 8)
3. Penarol (GP: 6; GD: -6; PTS: 5)
4. Sporting Cristal (GP: 6; GD: -6; PTS: 4)

Atletico Nacional and Club Sport Huracan advanced to the knockout stage.



GROUP SIX:

At Buenos Aires:

In the tournament finale for both clubs, Ezequiel Avila's equalizer in the 80th minute lifted San Lorenzo to a 1-1 home draw with LDU Quito.  Jose Cevallos scored in the 46th minute for the Ecuadorian club.

At Porto Alegre, Brazil:

In a battle of Group Six's two knockout-stage-bound clubs, Ramiro Benetti's goal in the 15th minute provided all the scoring in Gremio's 1-0 home victory over Toluca.

Final Group Six Standings:

2. Gremio (GP: 6; GD: +4; PTS: 11)

Group-stage play in the Copa Libertadores continued on Thursday with five games.

GROUP TWO:

At Montevideo, Uruguay:

German Herrera scored the winning goal in the 69th minute as Rosario Central defeated Club Nacional 2-1 to jump the Uruguayan club and win the Group Two title and join their hosts in the knockout stage.

At Sao Paulo, Brazil:

Augustin Allione scored twice (45+3' 72') as Palmeiras demolished visiting River Plate of Uruguay 4-0 in the tournament finale for both clubs.

Final Group Two Standings::

1. Rosario Central (GP: 6; GD: +5; PTS: 11)
2. Club Nacional (GP: 6; GD: 0; PTS: 9)
3. Palmeiras (GP: 6; GD: +4; PTS: 8)

Gaston Cellerino's equalizer in the 67th minute lifted Club Bolivar to a 1-1 road draw with Deportivo Cali.  Jhon Lozano scored for the hosts in the fourth minute.

At Santiago, Chile:

By holding hosts Colo-Colo to a 0-0 stalemate, Independiente del Valle locked up a spot in the knockout stage and eliminated the Chilean club.
