Bayern Season-Closing Win (Along With Hertha Victory) Sends Cologne Down

At Cologne, Germany:


On the final day of the German Bundesliga season, Thomas Muller scored twice (34', 85') as Bayern Munich defeated hosts FC Cologne 4-1.  The defeat, along with Hertha Berlin's 3-1 home win over Hoffenheim, meant the Cologne were relegated to the German second division for next season.  Hertha will play the third-placed 2.Bundesliga club in a two-match playoff for the right to play in the German top flight next season.

Easy Win For Ten-Man Bayern

At Munich, Germany:

Mario Gomez (48'), David Alaba (53'), and Toni Kroos (88') provided the scoring as Bayern Munich broke open what was at halftime a scorless stalemate and ended up dominating visiting FC Cologne 3-0 in Friday German Bundesliga action.  The league-leaders manhandled their guests despite losing Franck Ribery to a red-card ejection in the 33rd minute.
