Legia End League Season With Home Win; Get Shot At Europa League

At Warsaw, Poland:


Rafal Wolski scored the only goal of the match in the 64th minute as Legia Warsaw concluded their Ekstraklasa campaign with a 1-0 home win over Korona Kielce.  Legia (who had won the Polish Cup final back on April 24, 3-0 over Ruch Chorzow) finished in third place in the league standings and will take part in the second round of qualifying for next season's Europa League.

Road Defeat Puts Legia's European Chances In Jeopardy

At Gdansk, Poland:


Jakub Wilk scored the only goal of the match in the 43rd minute on Thursday as Lechia Gdansk knocked visiting Legia Warsaw out of the Polish Ekstraklasa race with a 1-0 victory.  The defeat placed Legia in fourth place in the league standings, three points behind Slask Wroclaw with one game behind and also out of the available Europa League places (currently held by Ruch Chorzow and Lech Poznan).

Second-Half Goal Salvages Home Draw (And First Place) For Legia Warsaw

At Warsaw, Poland:


Danijel Ljuboja scored the equalizer in the 63rd minute to lift Legia Warsaw to a 1-1 Sunday Polish Ekstraklasa home draw with Jagiellonia Bialystok.  The visitors' goal came in the 61st minute from Tomasz Frankowski.  The draw left Legia in first place, though level on points with Slask Wroclaw, due to superior goal differential (+25 to +13).  Ruch Chorzow are one point in back, Lech Poznan and Korona Kielce two back with two games to play.
