Reds Blow Out Visiting Wolves At Anfield

 At Liverpool, England:


Mohamed Salah (24'), Georginio Wijnaldum (58'), Joel Matip (67'), and Nelson Semedo (OG-78') each scored once on Sunday as Liverpool demolished visiting Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-0 in English Premier League action.


Wolves were minus the injured Raul Jimenez, who suffered a head injury in last Monday's road win at Arsenal.

LIVERPOOL CAPTURES CLUB WORLD CUP TITLE AFTER OT THRILLER WITH FLAMENGO

At Doha, Qatar:


Roberto Firmino scored the overtime game winner in the 99th minute on Saturday as Liverpool defeated Flamengo 1-0 in the championship match of the FIFA Club World Cup.


It was the Reds' first such title.

REDS TOP BLUES IN SUPER CUP GAME IN PK SHOOTOUT

At Istanbul, Turkey:

After a 2-2 deadlock through 120 minutes in which each club scored once in regulation and once in overtime on Wednesday, Roberto Firmino, Fabio Henrique Tavares, Divock Origi, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Mohamed Salah all converted their spot kicks as Liverpool (last season's UEFA Champions League winners) defeated Chelsea (last season's Europa League titlists) 5-4 in the penalty-kick shootout and won this year's edition of the UEFA Super Cup in an all-English affair in the Turkish capital.

Reds Blank Wolves In Premier League Season Finale At Anfield

At Liverpool:

In Sunday English Premier League season finale for both clubs, Sadio Mane scored both goals (17', 81') in Liverpool's 2-0 home victory over visiting Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Wolves finished in seventh place, by far their best standing in five Premier League seasons and their highest finish in the English top flight since finishing sixth in the old First Division in 1979-80.

GARETH BALE SCORES TWICE AS REAL MADRID WIN THIRD STRAIGHT EUROPEAN CLUB TITLE

At Kiev, Ukraine:
EPA UKRAINE SOCCER UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL 2018 SPO SOCCER UKR
Gareth Bale scored twice (64', 83') at NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium on Saturday as Real Madrid defeated Liverpool 3-1 to win their third consecutive UEFA Champions League title, becoming the first club to win the European club title three years in a row since Bayern Munich (1974-76).

Karim Benzema scored for Los Blancos in the 51st minute and is seen here celebrating after scoring.

Sadio Mane scored the Reds only goal in the 55th minute.

With the victory, Real Madrid will take on local rivals Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup, to be contested at Tallinn, Estonia on August 15.

Los Blancos will play in the semifinal round of the FIFA Club World Cup, set to take place in the United Arab Emirates this coming December.

THING GO BETTER WITH COKE AS HIS DOUBLE POWERS SEVILLA TO EUROPA LEAGUE CROWN AND CHAMPIONS LEAGUE BERTH

At Basel, Switzerland:


Coke, also known as Jorge Andujar Moreno, scored twice (64', 70') in the second half on Wednesday as Sevilla became the first team in UEFA Cup/Europa League history to win three straight titles by beating Liverpool 3-1 in the Europa League Final.

That's ol' Coke himself, celebrating after scoring what proved to be the game winner for The Ones From Nevion.

As a result, the Spanish club will play, not only in the UEFA Super Cup (against the winner of the Real Madrid-Atletico Madrid UEFA Champions League Final), but also in the group stage of next season's Champions League.

CITIZENS BEAT REDS IN PK SHOOTOUT FOR LEAGUE CUP CROWN

At London:

After a 1-1 draw at the end of regulation, followed by 30 scoreless overtime minutes on Sunday, Jesus Navas, Sergio Aguero, and Yaya Toure converted their spot kicks as Manchester City won their fourth English Football League Cup title by winning the penalty-kick shootout 4-1 over Liverpool.

Citizens goalkeeper Willy Caballero made three saves during the shootout.

DIDIER DROGBA SCORES WINNING GOAL, PETR CECH MAKES BIG SAVE AS BLUES TOP REDS FOR 7TH FA CUP CROWN

Ramires (11') and Didier Drogba (52') provided the scoring and Petr Cech came up with the save of the match in the 82nd minute (shown here), robbing Andy Carroll (who had scored in the 64th minute) of what would have been the equalizer as Chelsea held off Liverpool 2-1 on Saturday to capture their seventh FA Cup championship.

CARLING CUP: REDS WIN PK SHOOTOUT WITH CARDIFF CITY FOR FIRST MAJOR SILVERWARE SINCE 2006; STEVIE G.'S COUSIN MISSES CRITICAL PK TO SEAL LIVERPOOL VICTORY

At London:

After a 2-2 deadlock through 120 minutes, Liverpool defeated Cardiff City 3-2 in the penalty kick shootout to win the Carling (English Football League) Cup on Sunday, the Reds' first major piece of silverware since 2006.  In regulation time, Joe Mason scored in the 19th minute for the Bluebirds from the League Championship, only to see Martin Strkel equalize at 60 minutes for the Reds.  In overtime, Dirk Kuyt put Liverpool ahead in the 108th minute, only to see Ben Turner square things for Cardiff City in the 118th minute.  In the shootout, Stewart Dowing, Dirk Kuyt, and Glen Johnson made their spot kicks for the Reds, but the Bluebirds' Anthony Gerrard (whose cousin Steven had his spot kick blocked by Cardiff goalkeeper Tom Heaton) saw his penalty kick sail wide left.  Picture here is the Reds' Steven Gerrard with the Carling Cup in his right hand.

Reds Continue Wolves' Woes

At Wolverhampton, England:

After a scorless first half, Andy Carroll (52'), Craig Bellamy (61'), Dirk Kuyt (78') each delivered a goal on Tuesday as Liverpool stretched Wolverhampton's English Premier League winless streak to nine games, smothering the home-standing relegation-threatened Wolves (who have collected four points in their current league winless streak) 3-0.

Stephen Ward scored the only goal of the match at 56 minutes on Wednesday as Wolverhampton Wanderers racked up their first road win in English Premier League action since this past March 1-0 at Liverpool, winning at Anfield for the first time since January, 1984.
