TIGERS WIN PROMOTION BACK TO PREMIER LEAGUE

At London:

Mohamed Diame's goal in the 72nd minute on Saturday lifted Hull City to a 1-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday in the English Football League Championship's promotion playoff final. 

The Tigers will be returning to the English Premier League after a one-year absence, joining Burley and Middlesborough, who already gained automatic promotion to the top flight.

Four In A Row For Wolves

At Wolverhampton, England:

Bakary Sako scored the only goal of the match in the 43rd minute on Saturday as Wolverhampton Wanderers won their fourth consecutive English League Championship contest (their longest in-league winning streak in nearly four years), 1-0 over visiting Sheffield Wednesday.  The win leaves Wolves level on points with Brighton & Hove Albion and Cardiff City for top spot in the league standings.

Owls Blank Visiting Blades In Sheffield Derby With Major League One Promotion Implications

At Sheffield, England:



Chris O'Grady scored the only goal of the match in the 73rd minute as Sheffield Wednesday defeated visiting Sheffield United 1-0 in the lone Sunday English League One contest.  With the win, the Owls climbed up to third place in the league standings, two points in back of their local rivals.

Blades Blow Two-Goal Lead At Home And Settle For Home Draw In Sheffield Derby

At Sheffield, England:


Chris O'Grady (82') and Gary Madine (86') provided the goal power that enabled Sheffield Wednesday to come back from a two-goal deficit on the road and gain a 2-2 Sunday English League One draw with Sheffield United.  Stephen Quinn (11') and Ched Evans (20') each tallied once for the Blades.
