Vancouver Gets MLS Franchise
It became official on Wednesday that the Vancouver Whitecaps will be joining Major League Soccer in 2011 as an expansion franchise.
Portland, St. Louis, and Ottawa are vying for the other expansion club.
Whether the Rose City's hopes of getting an MLS club was hurt by Vancouver being awarded an expansion club today remains to be seen. Then again, maybe not. St. Louis is getting help from the Budweiser folks. Ottawa, to me, is a nonstarter.
