Thomas Muller's successful penalty kick in the 37th minute, followed by a second-half pair from Mario Gomez (48', 61'), enabled Bayern Munich to hold off VfB Stuttgart 3-2 on Saturday to win the final of the German Cup tournament, enabling the recently-crowned Bundesliga and Champions League titleholders to complete a sensational treble, as Jupp Heyneckes closed out his reign as manager in top form.  Former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola will take over next season.  Stuttgart will play in the third qualifying round for next season's Europa League.
