Luis Suarez scored the only goal of the match in the 56th minute on Wednesday as Barcelona climbed to within one point of Spanish Primera Division-leading Real Madrid by defeating visiting Espnayol 1-0, ending the Parakeets' 26-year run in La Liga.

Galacticos Gain Late El Classico Draw With Barca

At Barcelona:

A late goal in the waning minutes by Sergio Ramos lifted Real Madrid to a 1-1 road draw with Barcelona in Saturday's latest edition of the El Classico Derby.

Luis Suarez scored for the hosts in the 53rd minute.

Los Galacticos now enjoy a six-point lead over the Catalans atop the Spanish Primera Division standings.

BARCA TOO MUCH FOR RIVER PLATE, WIN THIRD FIFA CLUB WORLD CUP TITLE

At Yokohama, Japan:

Luis Suarez scored twice (49', 68') and Lionel Messi once (36') as Barcelona dominated Argentina's River Plate 3-0 in Sunday's FIFA Club World Cup final, enabling the European champions to win their third tournament championship in front of 66,853 fans at International Stadium.  Here are the happy members of the Spanish titans celebrating after the game.

Earlier Sunday, also at Yokohama, Dyanfres Douglas Chagas Matos scored twice (70', 83') as Sanfrecce Hiroshima came from behind to upend Guangzhou Evergrande 2-1 to capture third place.  We see players from the Japanese club celebrating their bronze-medal-clinching victory.

Barca Top Sevilla In OT To Capture UEFA Super Cup

At Tbilisi, Georgia:

Lionel Messi scored twice (7', 16') while Pedro scored the game winner in the 115th minute as Barcelona took a 5-4 Tuesday overtime decision over Sevilla and won the UEFA Super Cup which pit last season's UEFA Champions League winners (the former) against their counterparts from the Europa League(the latter).

The Catalans tied AC Milan's record of Super Cup triumphs at five despite blowing a 4-1 lead over their fellow Spaniard club.

LUIS SUAREZ SCORES WINNING GOAL AS BARCA WINS FIFTH EUROPEAN CLUB TITLE

At Berlin:
Barcelona see off Juventus to claim fifth title
Luis Suarez (that's him celebrating) scored what proved to be the winning goal in the 68th minute on Saturday as FC Barcelona won their fifth UEFA Champions League title overall, and their fourth in the last ten years by defeating Juventus 3-1.  

Ivan Rikitic (4') and Neymar (90'+7) also scored for the Catalans.

The lone goal for The Old Lady was scored by Alvaro Morata in the 55th minute which had squared the match at 1-1.

By winning the European club title, Barca will first take on Europa League winners Sevilla in the upcoming UEFA Super Cup, then play in the semifinal round of  December's FIFA Club World Cup, set to be staged in Japan.

LEO AND NEYMAR'S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE: BARCA TOP ATHLETIC TO COP KING'S CUP

At Barcelona:

In front of 97,000 fans at their home stadium, Lionel Messi scored twice (20', 74') and Neymar scored once (36') as Barcelona held off Athletic Bilbao 3-1 on Saturday to win the Copa del Rey Final.  It was Barca's 27th such title, a record.

In the latest episode of arguably the world's biggerst club derby, Sergio Ramos scored the winning goal in the 82nd minute on Saturday as Real Madrid defeated visiting Barcelona 2-1 as los Galacticos closed the gap between themselves and their Spanish Primera Division-leading arch-rivals to 13 points.

In the latest renewal of the Super Classico rivalry, Real Madrid came from behind to gain a 2-2 Spanish Primera Division Sunday road draw with arch-rivals Barcelona.  Lionel Messi scored both of Barca's goals (31', 61') while Cristiano Ronaldo did the same (23', 66') for Los Galacticos.

Lionel Messi scored twice (17', 82') as Barcelona whitewashed Santos 4-0 on Sunday to win their second FIFA Club World Cup championship in three years.  Shown here is Barca midfielder Adriano celebrating after the victory.


Earlier on Sunday, after 120 scoreless minutes, Al-Sadd won the penalty-kick shootout with Kashiwa Reysol 5-3 to capture the third-place contest.

LEO THE LION SCORES WINNING GOAL AS BARCA TOP RED DEVILS TO CAPTURE FOURTH EUROPEAN CLUB TITLE

At London:

For the second time in three years on Saturday, Barcelona defeated Manchester United in the final of the UEFA Champions League as Barca took the contest 4-1 for their fourth European club championship, tying them with Ajax Amsterdam and Bayern Munich.


Pedro Rodriguez got the scoring started for Barca in the 27th minute, but Wayne Rooney tied it up for the Red Devils in the 34th minute.  The game was deadlocked at 1-1 at halftime.


Lionel Messi, who was named man of the match, scored the game-winning goal in the 54th minute, while David Villa (pictured here) added the insurance tally in the 69th minute.


Barcelona also won European club titles in 1992, 2006, and, against the Red Devils, in 2009.


Only Real Madrid (nine), AC Milan (seven), and Liverpool (five) have won more European club championships than Barca.


Barca coach Pep Guardiola, at age 40, has now won two European club crowns, as many as his Manchester United counterpart, Sir Alex Ferguson.

Andres Iniesta (29') and Gerard Pique (47') each tallied once on Sunday as Barcelona defeated visiting Espanyol 2-0 in the local derby.  Barca need only one point from their final two games to lock up their third straight Spanish Primera Division crown.
