Izet Hajrovic delivered the only goal of the match with his successful penalty kick in the 21st minute on Sunday as Swiss Super League-leading Grasshoppers defeated local rivals FC Zurich 1-0 at home.

Football Hooliganism In Switzerland: Zurich Derby Suspended Due To Firecracker

Sunday's Swiss Super League contest between Grasshoppers and visiting FC Zurich was suspended after a handful of human debris disguised as fans burst over the advertising hoardings, run onto the running track, and tossed a lit firecracker into a section of Grasshoppers supporters.  That caused mayhem, which resulted in the referee suspending the match, which Grasshoppers, currently next-to-last in the league standings, were leading 2-1 over their local rivals.

Grasshoppers Massacred In Zurich Derby

At Zurich, Switzerland:


Six---count 'em---six goal scorers each tallied once on Sunday as FC Zurich destroyed visiting Grasshoppers (who looked like they had either Charlie Brown or Lucy van Pelt as goalkeeper) 6-0 in Swiss Super League.  Silvan Aegerter (15'), Alexandre Alphonse (49'), Raphael Koch (PK-59'), Admir Nehmedi (67'), Stjepan Kukuruzovic (77'), and Adrian Nicki (87') each delivered a goal as Zurich smashed open what had been a close game with five second-half tallies.

GRASSHOPPERS STAY UP AFTER KNOCKING OFF LOCAL RIVALS

Vincenzo Rennella scored twice on Sunday (14', 54') as Grasshoppers assured themselves of another season in the Swiss Super League, knocking off visiting FC Zurich 3-1, dropping their local rivals into second place behind FC Basel with two league games remaining.
