Grasshoppers finished eighth in the league this year, and perhaps fortunate enough to do so (and avoid relegation) as FC Sion were docked 36 points for fielding ineligible players and Neuchatel Xamax had their license revoked for not providing the necessary financial documents and guarantees (they were demoted to the fourth division).
