English League Cup Final: Swans Blast Bradford City To Win First Piece Of Major Silverware

At London:

Nathan Dyer scored twice (16', 48') as Swansea City from the English Premier League demolished League Two club Bradford City 5-0 in Sunday's English League Cup final played at Wembley Stadium.  It was the most lopsided final in the tournament's history and it was the Swans' first major trophy in their 100-year footballing history.  It was the first major English trophy won by a Welsh club since Cardiff City won the FA Cup in 1927.  The victory also locked up a berth in qualifying for next season's Europa League for the Swans.

No Quit In Wolves As Wolverhampton Come Back From Two Three-Goal Deficits To Gain Road Draw

At Swansea, Wales:


Matt Jarvis scored twice (33', 69') as Wolverhampton Wanderers, in their first match since clinching relegation, battled back from two three-goal deficits to gain a 4-4 Saturday English Premier League road draw with Swansea City.  Steven Fletcher (28') and David Edwards (54') also scored for Wolves.  The Swans' goals came courtesy of Andrea Orlandi (1'), Joe Allen (4'), Nathan Dyer (15'), and Danny Graham (31').  Despite blowing two three-goal advantages---and two points at home---the Swans assured themselves of playing again in the Premier League next season.

Wolves Erase Two-Goal Deficit To Grab Home Draw

At Wolverhampton, England:


Kevin Doyle (84') and Jamie O'Hara (86') each provided a goal two minutes apart on Saturday as Wolverhampton ended their English Premier League five-match losing streak with a 2-2 home draw with Swansea City.  Danny Graham (23') and Joe Allen (35') provided the scoring for the visiting Swans.

SCOTT SINCLAIR HAT TRICK HELPS LIFT SWANS TO PREMIER LEAGUE

At London:


Scott Sinclair's hat trick (PK-21', 22', PK-80') helped carry Swansea City to a 4-2 English League Championship promotion playoff final victory over Reading at Wembley Stadium on Monday, sealing the Swans' promotion to the Barclays Premier League.  The Swans will be playing in the top flight of English soccer since 1983 and the first club from Wales to play in the Premiership since its' formation in 1992.  They will be joining already-promoted Queens Park Rangers (first time in the top flight since 1996) and Norwich City (relegated from the Premiership in 2005).
