CAF Champions League: Cairo Derby Ends In 1-1 Draw; Berekum Chelsea Knock Off TP Mazembe As Group-Stage Play Ends

On Sunday, two games---both in Group B---were played as group-stage play in the CAF Champions League concluded.

At Accra, Ghana:

Jordan Darko-Opoku scored the only goal of the match as Berekum Chelsea bid farewell to the Champions League with a 1-0 home win over semifinal-round-bound TP Mazembe.

At Cairo:

Mohamed Barakat's equalizer in the 62nd minute lifted Al-Ahly to a 1-1 home draw with arch-rivals Zamalek and won Group B.  Mohamed Ibrahim scored for the guests in the 43rd minute.

FINAL GROUP B STANDINGS:

1. Al Ahly (GP: 6; GD: +3; PTS: 11)
2. TP Mazembe (GP: 6; GD: +3; PTS: 10)
3. Berekum Chelsea (GP: 6; GD: -1; PTS: 9)
4. Zamalek (GP: 6; GD: -5; PTS: 2)

In the semifinal round next month, Al-Ahly will take on Sunshine Stars with defending champs Esperance ST will take on 2009 and 2010 titlists TP Mazembe.
