MLS: Timbers, Crew, Quakes Pick Up Wins; Red Bulls Hold Sounders To 1-1 Deadlock In Seattle

Four games were played in Major League Soccer on Sunday.

At Portland, Oregon:

Maximiliano Uttuti scored the only goal of the match in the 52nd minute as the Portland Timbers defeated the visiting Los Angeles Galaxy 1-0.  Robbie Keane's stoppage-time equalizer for the guests was waived off after he had been flagged as offside.

At Frisco, Texas:

Dominic Oduro scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 44th minute as the Columbus Crew continued their late push for a playoff berth with a 4-2 road win over DC Dallas, crippling the Hoops' post-season chances.

At Seattle:

Tim Cahill's equalizer in the 76th minute lifted the New York Red Bulls to a 1-1 road draw with the Seattle Sounders.  Brad Evans scored for the hosts in the 45th minute by successfully converting a penalty kick.

At Carson, California:

Chris Wondolowski scored the only goal of the match in the 87th minute as the San Jose Earthquakes, despite finishing the game with ten men, defeated Chivas USA 1-0 on the road.

MLS: Saturday Wins For RSL, Reds; Dynamo and Impact Score Late To Gain Road Draws With Revs and Fire, Respectively

Four games were played in Major League Soccer on Saturday.

At Toronto:

Goals from Darel Russell (25'), Bright Dike (67'), Conor Shanosky (OG-71'), and Alvaro Rey (87') enabled Toronto FC to overcome an early deficit and dominate visiting DC United 4-1, ending an eight-match winless streak.  DC United used a younger lineup of players, saving their more experienced players for Tuesday's US Open Cup final against Real Salt Lake on the road.

At Vancouver, British Columbia:

Devon Sandoval scored the only goal of the match in the ninth minute as Real Salt Lake defeated the Vancouver Whitecaps 1-0 on the road as the visitors get ready for Tuesday's US Open Cup final at home against DC United.

At Foxborough, Massachusetts:

Will Bruin's equalizer in the 76th minute lifted the Houston Dynamo to a 1-1 road draw with the New England Revolution.  Saer Sene delivered a goal for the Revs in the 64th minute.

At Bridgeview, Illinois:

Marco Di Vaio (25') and Maxim Tissot (87') each provided a goal as the Montreal Impact gained a 1-1 road draw with the Chicago Fire, both of whose goals came courtesy of Mike Magee (57', 73').

Two games were played on Sunday----both in Group A----as action from the group stage of the CAF Champions League came to a close.

At El Gouna, Egypt:

Ahmed Gaafar scored twice (57', 65') scored twice as Zamalek, already eliminated from the tournament, dominated visiting AC Leopards 4-1.

At Johannesburg, South Africa:

A 0-0 home draw with Al-Ahly enabled Orlando Pirates to advance to the semifinal round.

Camilo Sanvezzo scored twice in the waning moments (89', 90'+1) as the Vancouver Whitecaps smothered the home-standing Montreal Impact 3-0 on the road.

At Toronto:

C J Sapong scored twice (18', 53') as Sporting Kansas City defeated ten-man Toronto FC 2-1 on the road.

At Columbus, Ohio:

Dominic Oduro (15'), Federico Higuain (PK-70'), and Bernardo Anor (76') provided the scoring as the Columbus Crew continued their late, desperate push for an Eastern Conference playoff berth with a 3-0 home win over the ten-man Chicago Fire.

At Foxborough, Massachusetts:

Lee Nguyen's successfully-converted penalty kick in the 83rd minute proved to be the game winner as the New England Revolution came from behind to defeat visiting DC United 2-1.

At Houston:

Giles Barnes (39', 54') and Oscar Boniek Garcia (79', 90'+1) each scored twice as the Houston Dynamo delivered a 5-1 home fist-beating to Chivas USA.

At Sandy, Utah:

Steven Lenhart scored twice (18', 21') as the San Jose Earthquakes knocked off Real Salt Lake 2-1 on the road.

At Carson, California:

Juninho's first-half stoppage-time equalizer off a free kick (45'+2) enabled the Los Angeles Galaxy to salvage a 1-1 home deadlock with the Seattle Sounders, who finished the match with ten men.  Eddie Johnson scored for the Sounders in the 25th minute.

CONCACAF Champions League: Wins For Galaxy, Toluca, Herediano; Valencia, Caledonia AIA, Isidro Metapan Eliminated

Group-stage play continued in the CONCACAF Champions League on Wednesday with three games.

Group Three:

At Alajuela, Costa Rica:

Olman Vargas (1'), Minor Diaz (6'), Jose Sanchez (51'), and Anllel Porras (76') each delivered a goal as Herediano eliminated Valencia FC from the tournament, doubling up the visiting Haitian club 4-2.
