On Thursday night at Buenos Aires, Mexican club Chivas de Guadalajara (parent club of Chivas USA of MLS) won the second game of the two-game total goals series against Valez Sarsfield of Argentina, 2-1, which was also the total for the entire two-game set. Thus, Chivas won its Copa Libertadores quarterfinal series and will now move on to the semifinals of South America's most prestigous club competition.
Next week, Chivas will open at home in Guadalajara against Sao Paulo FC (Brazil), while Paraguayan club Club Libertad will play host at Asuncion against Internacional (Brazil). The following week, the two Brazilian sides will play host to their opponents.
