Major League Soccer on Thursday announced that they have awarded a 2010 expansion franchise to Philadelphia, which is slated to begin play that season in a new stadium located in nearby Chester, Pennsylvania. The city had not had major outdoor pro soccer since the NASL's Phildelphia Fury skipped town for Montreal after the 1980 season.
