UCL Group D: FC Copenhagen Grabs Berth In Knockout Stage; Rubin Kazan To Europa League

Tuesday saw the conclusion of Group D action in the UEFA Champions League.

At Barcelona:

Andreu Fontas (51', that's him [left] celebrating) and Victor Vazquez (82') provided the second-half goalpower that carried Barcelona to a 2-0 home win over FK Rubin Kazan, shoving the Russian club into the Europa League knockout stage.

At Copenhagen, Denmark:

Copenhagen vs Panathinaikos
Thanks to goals from Martin Vingaard (26', that's him celebrating with teammates), Jesper Gronkjaer (PK-50'), and Djibril Cisse (OG-73'), FC Copenhagen manhandled visiting Panathinaikos 3-0.  Regardless of the result, Barcelona's win over FK Rubin Kazan clinch a Champions League knockout-stage berth for the host Lions.

1. Barcelona (GP: 6; GD: +11; PTS: 14)
2. FC Copenhagen (GP: 6; GD: +2; PTS: 10)
3. FK Rubin Kazan (GP: 6; GD: -2; PTS: 6)
4. Panathinaikos (GP: 6; GD: -11; PTS: 2)

FC Barcelona and FC Copenhagen advanced to the Champions League's group stage.  FK Rubin Kazan qualified for the group stage of the Europa League.  Panathinaikos were eliminated from European competition.
