Luis Checa (37') and Julio Bevacqua (64') each contributed a goal as Deportivo Quito blanked visiting Defensor Sporting 2-0.
Group Eight:
At Medellin, Colombia:
Oscar Murillo (7'), Dorlan Pabon (45'), and Diego Alvarez (60') each tallied once as Atletico Nacional clinched a berth in the knockout stage with a 3-0 whitewashing of visiting (and already-eliminated ) Penarol. The win also eliminated Godoy Cruz from the tournament.
