MLS: Crew, SKC, Galaxy, RSL Pick Up Saturday Wins; Scoreless Deadlock In Foxborough

Five games were played on Saturday in Major League Soccer.

At Columbus, Ohio:

Chad Marshall squared matters with his 80th-minute tally, then Emilio Renteria delivered the game winner in second-half stoppage time (90'+3) as the Columbus Crew came from behind to upend the Montreal Impact 2-1 at home to climb into an Eastern Conference playoff berth.  The Crew's fourth straight victory ended the Impact's winning run at five matches.

At Foxborough, Massachusetts:

The match, seen by many as meaningless, between the New England Revolution and visiting Philadelphia Union, concluded as a 0-0 stalemate.

At Kansas City, Kansas:

Paulo Nagamura (61') and Oriol Rosell (88') each delivered a goal as Eastern Conference-leading Sporting Kansas City came back and upended visiting Toronto FC 2-1, all but officially condemning the Reds to a sixth straight season without a playoff appearance.

At Carson, California:

Juninho (41') and David Beckham (79') provided the scoring punch as the Los Angeles Galaxy defeated the visiting Vancouver Whitecaps 2-0.  The defeat was the Caps' fourth in a row.

At Sandy, Utah:

Will Johnson's goal in the 49th minute provided all the scoring as Real Salt Lake downed visiting DC United 1-0.  RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando (an ex-DCU netminder) registered his 97th career MLS shutout.
