Valentin Castellanos scored the winning goal in the 77th minute as New York City upended the Chicago Fire 4-3 on the road to knock the hosts out of playoff contention.

At Columbus, Ohio:

Gyasi Zardes scored the game winner at 55 minutes as the Columbus Crew held off visiting Atlanta United 2-1 as the Five Stripes will miss the playoffs for the first time in their four-year history.

At Washington:

Romell Quioto delivered the winning goal in the 88th minute as the Montreal Impact upended DC United 3-2 at home to lock up a playoff berth and knock the hosts from playoff contention.

At Fort Lauderdale, Florida:

Mikey Ambrose (19') and Leandro Gonzales Pirez (23') each scored once as Inter Miami held off visiting FC Cincinnati 2-1 to lock up a playoff berth in their inaugural season.

With the Herons joining fellow expansionists Nashville SC going to the postseason (as well as Orlando City making their playoff debut after six years), the Orange and Blue are now the only club to have never qualified for the MLS Cup Playoffs.

At Harrison, New Jersey:

Tom Barlow (24') and Brian White (26') each scored a goal two minutes apart as the New York Red Bulls defeated visiting Toronto FC 2-1.

At Orlando, Florida:

Jhonder Cadiz scored the winning goal at the death (90'+3) as Nashville SC came from behind to upend visiting Orlando City 3-2.

At Chester, Pennsylvania:

Sergio Santos (43') and Cory Burke (69') each scored once as the Philadelphia Union secured the Supporters' Shield-----the first major trophy in the club's eleven-year history----by blanking the visiting New England Revolution 2-0.
