Copa Libertadores: Club Nacional, Palmeiras, Libertad Advance To Quarterfinals

Knockout-stage action in the Copa Liberadores continued on Wednesday with four games.

At Montevideo, Uruguay:

After a second 0-0 stalemate, and with overtime dispensed with, Gonzalo Bergessio, Chory Castro, Claudio Yacob, and Emiliano Martinez converted their spot kicks as Club Nacional won the penalty-kick shootout, 4-2 at visiting Independiente del Valle's expense.

At Sao Paulo, Brazil:

Gabriel Veron scored twice (49', 60') as Palmeiras destroyed visiting Delfin 5-0 in game two and finished off the Ecuadorian club 8-1 on aggregate.

At Porto Alegre, Brazil:

In the opening game of their two-game series (postponed from November 25 due to Diego Maradona's passing on that date), Carlos Tevez scored the winning goal at 63 minutes as Diego's former club, Boca Juniors, defeated Internacional 1-0 on the road.

At Cochabamba, Bolivia:

Oscar Cardozo scored twice (67', 79') as Club Libertad blanked Jorge Wilstermann 2-0 on the road in game two and won their series 5-1 on aggregate.
