The qualifying playoffs for spots in the group stage in this year's AFC Champions League concluded Saturday.
At Singapore:
After 120 scoreless minutes, Indra Sahdan, John Wilkinson, Niklas Sandberg, and Daniel Bennett each converted a spot kick as Singapore Armed Forces FC won the penalty-kick shootout, 4-3 over Thailand's Muangthong United to win the East Asia playoff final and lock up a berth in Group G alongside Henan Construction (China), Gamba Osaka (Japan), and South Korea's Suwon Bluewings.
At Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates:
Fernando Baiano scored twice (45', 65') as Al-Wahda defeated India's Churchill Brothers SC 5-3 to win the West Asia playoff final and claim a spot in Group B where they would battle FC Zob Ahan (Iran), Al-Ittihad (Saudi Arabia), and FC Bunyodkor (Uzbekistan).
