They will join fellow Ecuadorian club Deportivo Quito, Uruguay's Cerro, and Brazil's Internacional in Group Five.

Banfield defeated visiting Mexican club Morelia 2-1. James Rodriguez (55') and Roberto Battion (79') provided the scoring for the hosts.
Group Seven:
At Buenos Aires, Argentina:
Santiago Silva (5') and Juan Manuel Martinez (76') each scored a goal as Velez Sarsfield blanked visiting Cruzeiro from Brazil 2-0.
