Group C play in the CONCACAF Gold Cup opened on Tuesday with two games played in Detroit.
In the opener, Blas Perez (28'), Luis Tejada (31'), and Gabriel Gomez (PK-56') each scored twice as Panama held off Guadeloupe 3-2.
In the nightcap, Jozy Altidore (14') and Clint Dempsey (62') each scored a goal as the United States blanked Canada 2-0.
