NOTE: Wednesday's scheduled second contest of the DC United-New York Red Bulls series (deadlocked at 1-1 on aggregate), originally set for Washington, but moved to Harrison, New Jersey in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, was postponed until Thursday due to blizzard conditions.
Two games were played on Wednesday as the Major League Soccer playoffs continued.
At Kansas City, Kansas:
Despite dropping a 1-0 game-two decision on the road, the Houston Dynamo won their two-match series with the Eastern Conference's regular-season champions Sporting Kansas City 2-1 on aggregate. The Dynamo will host the first match of their two-contest Eastern Conference final on Sunday against the DC United-New York winner.
At Santa Clara, California:
Robbie Keane scored twice in the first half (21', 34') and Mike Magee added what turned out to be the series-winning goal in the 39th minute as the Los Angeles Galaxy recovered from their game-one home setback and knocked off the Supporters Shield-winning San Jose Earthquakes 3-1 on the road in game two and took the series 3-2 on aggregate. The Galaxy will host the winner of the Seattle Sounders-Real Salt Lake series in the opening match of the two-game Western Conference final on Sunday night.
