Copa Libertadores Qualfiying: Independiente del Valle, Independiente Santa Fe Advance To Group Stage

Qualifying for group-stage berths in the Copa Libertadores concluded on Thursday with two games.

At Asuncion, Paraguay:

Jose Enrique Angulo scored the series-winning goal in the 78th minute as Independiente del Valle, despite dropping a 2-1 game-two road decision to Club Guarani, still won their two-game series on away goals, with the aggregate score at 2-2.  The Ecuadorian club secured a berth in Group Five alongside Brazil's Atletico Mineiro, Chile's Colo-Colo, and Peru's FBC Melgar.

At Bogota, Colombia:

Yerry Mina scored twice (32', 38') as Independiente Santa Fe dominated visiting Oriente Petrolero 3-0 in  game two and finished off the Bolivian club 6-1 on aggregate as they advanced to Group Eight, joining Corinthians (Brazil), Cerro Porteno (Paraguay), and Cobresal (Chile)




Two of the eight groups had already been filled prior to the start of the preliminary round:

San Lorenzo (Argentina)

Gremio (Brazil)

LDU Quito (Ecuador)

Toluca (Mexico)



GROUP SEVEN:

Club Olimpia (Paraguay)

Club Sport Emelec (Ecuador)

Deportivo Táchira (Venezuela)

UNAM Pumas (Mexico)

Group-stage play opens next Tuesday.
