Jack Harrison (10') and Thomas McNamara (67') each scored once as New York City defeated the visiting, ten man San Jose Earthquakes 2-1.
At Bridgeview, Illinois:
Bastien Schweinsteiger (in his MLS debut; 17') and Luis Solignac (90'+3) each score once as the Chicago Fire salvaged a wild 2-2 home draw with the Montreal Impact. Matteo Mancosu (61') and Ballou Jean-Yves Tabla (90') each delivered a goal for the guests.
At Columbus, Ohio:
Justin Meram scored both goals (13', 77') as the Columbus Crew knocked off previously-unbeaten Orlando City 2-0 at home.
At Washington:
Jose Guillermo Ortiz (18') and Luciano Acosta (27') each scored once as DC United collected their first goals----and victory---of the season, 2-1 over the visiting Philadelphia Union.
At Minneapolis:
Christian Ramirez scored twice (52', 62') as Minnesota United grabbed their first-ever MLS victory, 4-2 over visiting Real Salt Lake, ruining Mike Petke's first game as RSL's new head coach.
At Houston:
Erick Torres delivered a hat trick (41', PK-56', 90'+1) as the Houston Dynamo, despite falling behind early, dominated the visiting New York Red Bulls 4-1.
At Vancouver, British Columbia:
Matias Laba scored twice (67', 87') as the Vancouver Whitecaps picked up their first victory of the season, 4-2 at the expense of the visiting Los Angeles Galaxy.
