UCL Group G: Ajax Blank Rossoneri On Road To Gain Europa League berth

Two games were played in Group G on Wednesday as UEFA Champions League group stage play concluded.

At Madrid:


Karim Benzema's hat trick (11', 71', 88', that's him celebrating his opening goal) helped carry Real Madrid to a 4-0 frontier-styled fistbeating of visiting AJ Auxerre, ending the French club's European advanture.

At Milan, Italy:



Demy De Zeeuw (57', that's him, pictured here) and Toby Alderweireld (66') each delivered a goal as Ajax Amsterdam, playing their first contest since the resignation of manager Martin Jol (Frank de Boer served as interim boss), defeated AC Milan 2-0 on the road to lock up a berth in the knockout stage of the Europa League.  The Rossoneri had already secured a Championd League Sweet Sixteen berth.

Real Madrid and AC Milan advanced to the knockout stage of the Champions League. Ajax Amsterdam will play in the knockout stage of the Europa League.  AJ Auxerre have been eliminated from European competition.

UCL Group G: Galacticos Win Group; Rossoneri Reach Sweet 16, Too; Ajax and Auxerre Left To Fight For Europa League Berth

Tuesday saw two games played in UEFA Champions League action from Group G.

At Auxerre, France:



Zlatan Ibrahimovic (64') and Ronaldinho (90'+1, that's him celebrating) each tallied once as AC Milan locked up a berth in the knockout stage of the Champions League with a 2-0 win on the road over AJ Auxerre.

At Amsterdam, Netherlands:

UCL Group G: Late Equalizer Gains Point ( And Knockout Stage Berth) For Galacticos; Auxerre Shock Ajax

Wednesday play in Group G of the UEFA Champions League.

At Auxerre, France:



Frederic Sammaritano (9', pictured here) and Steven Langil (84') each tallied once as AJ Auxerre knocked off visiting Ajax Amsterdam 2-1.

At Milan, Italy:



Pedro Leon's stoppage-time equalizer (90'+4, he's pictured here celebrating), along with an earlier goal from Gonzalo Hiquain (45'), enabled Real Madrid to gain a late 2-2 road draw with AC Milan, which clinched a berth in the knockout stage.  Filippo Inzaghi (68', 78') scored both of the Rossoneri's goals.

Two games were played on Tuesday as action in Group G in the UEFA Champions League resumed.

At Auxerre, France:

Angel Di Maria (that's him celebrating with teammate Gonzalo Higuain) scored the only goal of the match at 81 minutes as Real Madrid pulled out a 1-0 road win over AJ Auxerre.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic equalized at 37 minutes(that's him celebrating afterward), enabling AC Milan to gain a 1-1 road draw with Ajax Amsterdam.  Mounir El Hamdaoui scored for the hosts 23 minutes.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic provided both goals, scored three minutes apart (66', 69', that's him in action), as AC Milan blanked visiting AJ Auxerre 2-0.
