Wolves Back On Winning Track

At Blackburn, England:

Bakary Sako scored the only goal of the match in the 78th minute as Wolverhampton Wanderers defeated Blackburn Rovers 1-0 on the road in Saturday English League Championship action.  The win was the fifth in the last five league games for Wolves. 

Junior's Double Helps Sink Feckless Wolves

At Wolverhampton, England:


Junior Hoilett scored twice (43', 69') as Blackburn Rovers won what you would describe as a six-point English Premier League contest on Saturday as they blanked sinking Wolverhampton 2-0 on the road to climb out of the relegation zone.  Wolves have won only once in their last 14 league contests and unhappy fans calling for the ouster of the club's board of directors.

Wolves Get Seaon Off On Right Foot

At Blackburn, England:

Steven Fletcher (22') and Stephen Ward (47') provided the scoring as Wolverhampton came from behind to defeat Blackburn Rovers 2-1 on the road Saturday in the English Premier League season opener for both clubs.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Classic: 1960 FA Cup Championship

Time for another Wolverhampton Wanderers classic as we journey to May 7, 1960, to Wembley Stadium in London as Wolves took on Blackburn Rovers in the 1959-60 FA Cup Final as captured on this British Pathe newsreel.  Before 98,954 fans, Norman Deeley scored twice (67', 88') as Wolves won their fourth (and most recent) FA Cup championship 3-0.

WOLVES STAY UP DESPITE 3-2 HOME DEFEAT TO BLACKBURN (WHO ALSO STAY UP)

At Wolverhampton, England:


Despite dropping a 3-2 decision at home Sunday to Blackburn, Wolverhampton, like their guests, maintained their English Premier League membership for next season.  The visiting Rovers dominated first-half action with goals from Jason Roberts (22'), Brett Emerton (38'), and David Hoilett (45').  Wolves, however, thanks to Jamie O'Hara (73') and Stephen Hunt (87'), managed to make it a one-goal game in the second half.  With Birmingham City (2-1 at Tottenham Hotspur, who sewed up a Europa League qualifying berth) and Blackpool (4-2 at Manchester United) having also lost, Wolves managed to finish in 17th place, one point and one place above the relegation zone.  The Carling Cup-winning Brumbies and Tangerines, along with West Ham United, will be playing in the League Championship next season.

At Blackburn, England:

David Dunn (29'), Brett Emerton (43'), and Ryan Nelson (55') each delivered a goal as Blackburn dominated visiting Wolverhampton 3-0 in Saturday English Premier League action, condemning Wolves to the EPL basement. 

Wanderers On Brink Of Survival: Wolves Gain Home Draw With Blackburn

At Wolverhampton, England:

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake's equalizer (81') enabled Wolverhampton to gain a 1-1 home draw Saturday with Blackburn (Ryan Nelson scoring at 28 minutes) to all but assure another season in the English Premier League.  Should Burnley fail to defeat Liverpool at home on Sunday, Wolves will secure Premiership survival.

Rovers Smother Wolves

At Blackburn, England:
