In their final Spanish Primera Division contest after 26 years (as they had already clinched relegation to the Segunda Division, or second tier of Spanish soccer), Espanyol held visiting Celta Vigo to a 0-0 stalemate.

The Parakeets finished dead last in the La Liga standings at 25 points, as they, Mallorca, and Leganes are  also going down a division.

Next season, this weblog will follow Atletico Madrid (who finished third, trailing only titans Real Madrid and Barcelona).

Maximiliano Gomez delivered the equalizer on Wednesday in the 72nd minute as relegation-threatened Celta de Vigo gained a 1-1 Spanish Primera Division road draw with Parakeets.

Wu Lei scored for the Parakeets, who drew closer to assuring top-fight safety, in the 33rd minute.
