EURO 2008 GROUP A PLAY: Cristiano Ronaldo Seals Portuguese Berth In Quarterfinals; Turkey Stays Alive, Swiss Eliminated

Group A play in EURO 2008 resumed Wednesday:

At Geneva, Switzerland:

Goals from Deco (8'), Cristiano Ronaldo (63', seen here celebrating), and Ricardo Quaresma (90'+2') lifted Portugal to a 3-1 win over the Czech Republic, thus clinching a berth in the quarterfinal round.

At Basel, Switzerland:

Turkey, thanks to tallies courtesy of Semih Senturk (57', pictured here)
and Arda Turan (90'+2), came from behind to defeat Switzerland 2-1 to stay alive in the tournament-----and in the process, eliminated the co-hosts.
