The AFC Champions League's quarterfinal round resumed with two games played on Tuesday.
At Guangzhou, China:
Despite dropping a 2-1 game-two decision on the road, Saudi Arabia's Al-Ittihad still won their two-game series with Guangzhou Evergrande 5-4 on aggregate. Fahad Al-Muwallad scored what proved to be the series-winning goal for the visitors in the 79th minute.
At Jeddah, Saudi Arabia:
Amad Al-Hosni scored twice in the first half (35', 45'+1) as Al-Ahli defeated visiting Sepahan 4-1 in game two and took out the Iranian club by that same score on aggregate for the two-game series.
Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahli will meet in a two-match home-and-away series in the semifinal round with Al-Ittihad hosting the opening match on October 24 and Al-Ahli hosting the return contest on October 31. The winner will advance to the one-match final on November 9 or 10.
