The opening weekend of the Major League Soccer regular season concluded with three Sunday contests.
At Orlando, Florida:
Cyle Larin scored the only goal of the match in the 15th minute as Orlando City, before a sellout crowd in their first game at their new soccer-specific facility----Orlando City Stadium----defeated New York City 1-0.
At Atlanta:
Goals from Daniel Royer (76') and Anton Walkes (OG-82') enabled the New York Red Bulls to come from behind and spoil Atlanta United's debut match 2-1 on the road. Yamil Asad scored the Peach City club's inaugural goal in the 25th minute. The contest took place in front of a crowd of 55,297 fans at Bobby Dodd Stadium at the Georgia Tech campus, the ATL's temporary home (until they move later this season into Mercedes-Benz Stadium).
At Vancouver, British Columbia:
The Vancouver Whitecaps and visiting Philadelphia Union battled to a 0-0 draw.
