In the most lopsided FA Cup semifinal match since 1939, Jonathan Walters scored twice (68', 81') as Stoke City demolished Bolton 5-0 on Sunday to reach the final for the first time in club history.  The Potters will take on Manchester City in the final at Wembley Stadium on May 21.

Yaya Toure scored the only goal of the match in the 52nd minute on Saturday as Manchester City defeated ten-mam Manchester United 1-0 in an FA Cup semifinal round contest played at Wembley Stadium.  The Citizens have qualified for their first FA Cup final since 1981 and will face the winner of Sunday's Bolton-Stoke City contest in the final to be played on May 21 at Wembley.

Robert Huth (12') and Danny Higginbothan (63') provided the scoring that carried Stoke City to a 2-1 home win over West Ham United.


At Manchester, England:


Micah Richards scored the only goal of the match at 74 minutes as Manchester City defeated visiting Reading (League Championship; last non Premier League club left in the tournament) 1-0.


The semifinal round would be played the weekend of April 16 and 17 with both games to be played at London's Wembley Stadium.

The quarterfinal round of England's FA Cup commenced with two Saturday contests.

At Manchester, England:

Fabio Da Silva (28') and Wayne Rooney (49') provided the goals as Manchester United blanked visiting Arsenal 2-0, compounding the Gunners' recent problems following their League Cup defeat against Birmingham City two weekends ago and this past week's elimination from the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Barcelona.

At Birmingham, England:

Lee Chung-Yong scored the winning goal at 90 minutes as Bolton Wanderers advanced to their first FA Cup semifinal appearance since 2000 with a 3-2 road win over Birmingham City.

FA Cup: Gunners, Citizens Advance To Quarterfinal Round

Two games were played on Wednesday as the fifth round of England's FA Cup came to a conclusion.


At London:


Nicklas Bendtner's hat trick (30', 43', 62') helped Arsenal demolished Leyton Orient (League One) 5-0 in a fifth-round replay at home.


At Manchester, England:


Gneri Toure Yaya (5'), Mario Balotelli (25'), and David Silva (70') each tallied once as Manchester City delivered a 3-0 home beatdown of Aston Villa.

At Liverpool, England:


Matt Mills scored the only goal of the match at 26 minutes as Reading (League Championship) knocked off Everton 1-0 on the road on Tuesday in Round-of-16 play in England's FA Cup.  The Royals have reached the quarterfinal round for the second straight year.

Carlton Cole scored twice (48', 50') as West Ham United smothered visiting Burnley (League Championship) 5-1 Monday in the FA Cup's Round of 16.

Jonathan Tehoue's late equalizer (89') enabled Leyton Orient (League One) to gain a 1-1 home deadlock with Arsenal, forcing a fifth-round replay in the process.  Tomas Rosicky scored for the Gunners at 53 minutes.

FA Cup: Toffees Detrone Chelsea In Replay Shootout; Man U, Potters, Brumbies Reach Quarterfinals

There was one fourth-round FA Cup replay on Saturday.

At London:

Following 90 minutes of scoreless regulation time in their fourtr-round FA Cup replay, Frank Lampard put Chelsea ahead in the first overtime period (104') only to see visiting Everton's Leighton Barnes square things up at 1-1 in the second extra period (119').  In the penalty-kick shootout, Phil Neville scored the game winner as the Toffees take the shootout 4-3 to advance to the fifth round and oust the two-time defending champions.

Three games from the Round of 16 were played on Saturday.

At Birmingham, England:

Jean Beausejour (6'), Obafemi Martins (17'), and David Murphy (53') each delivered a goal as Birmingham City dominated visiting Sheffield Wednesday (League One) 3-0.

At Stoke-on-Trent, England:

In another contest in which an English Premier League club dominated a visiting League One side, John Carew (14'), Jonathan Walters (22'), Ryan Shawcross (43') all scored in the first half as Stoke City delivered a 3-0 beatdown on Brighton.

At Manchester, England:

Wes Brown delivered the only goal of the match in the 28th minute as Manchester United survived a scare from visiting English Blue Square Premier Conference club Crawley Town---the tournament's last remaining non-league club---1-0 in a battle of clubs known as the Red Devils.

At Wigan, England:


Ivan Klasnic scored the lone goal of the match at 66 minutes as Bolton defeated hosts Wigan 1-0 in an FA Cup fourth-round replay battle of English Premier League clubs.  The Trotters will travel to London for their Round of 16 encounter with fellow Premier League club Fulham.

The fourth round of England's FA Cup continued on Sunday with five games.

At London:

Cesc Fabregas scored the winning goal at 86 minutes as Arsenal defeated visiting Huddersfield Town (League One) 2-1.

At Wolverhampton, England:

Robert Huth scored the only goal of the match at 81 minutes while goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen saved a stoppage-time penalty kick from Nenad Milijas as Stoke City defeated Wolverhampton 1-0 on the road in a battle of Premier League clubs.

At Nottingham, England:

Edin Dzeko's equalizer at 80 minutes enabled Manchester City to gain a 1-1 road draw and force a home replay with Notts County.  Neal Bishop scored at 59 minutes for the League One club.

At London:

Victor Obinna's hat trick (4', 42', 52') enabled West Ham United to come from behind and top visiting Nottingham Forest (League Championship) 3-2.

At London:

Two successful penalty kicks from Danny Murphy (11', 14') helped Fulham demolish visiting Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 in a local London Derby.

There will be three fourth-round replays.  Bolton will visit Wigan Athletic on February 16, while the other games will take place on February 19, Notts County visiting Manchester City and Everton paying a visit on Chelsea.

The fourth round of England's FA Cup commenced with eleven games on Saturday.

At Liverpool, England:

Salomon Kalou's equalizer at 75 minutes salvaged a 1-1 road draw for two-time defending champions Chelsea while Louis Saha scored at 62 minutes for Everton.  The Toffees and Blues will have a replay at London on February 7 or 8.

At Swansea, Wales:

Swansea defender Alan Tate's own goal at 88 minutes proved fatal as Leyton Orient (League One) knocked off Swansea City (League Championship) 2-1 on the road to advance to the Round of 16.


At Birmingham, England:


Ciaran Clark (11'), Robert Pires (35'), and Nathan Delfouneso (42') each tallied a first-half score as Aston Villa defeated visiting Blackburn 3-1 in a battle of Premier League clubs.


At Birmingham, England:


David Bentley (35'), Stuart Parnaby (67'), and Kevin Phillips (73') provided the scoring that enabled Birmingham City to erase a two-goal deficit and defeat visiting Coventry City (League Championship) 3-2.


At Bolton, England:


The battle between Premier Leaguers Bolton and Wigan ended in a 0-0 stalemate.  The replay will take place on February 7 or 8 on the Lactics' home pitch in Wigan.


At Burnley, England:


Chris Eagles scored twice (29', 70') as Burnley (League Championship) eliminated visiting Burton Albion (League Two) 3-1 in Eddie Howe's first home match as the Clarets' new manager.


At Sheffield, England:


Clinton Morrison scored twice (69', 79') as Sheffield Wednesday (League One) fell behind early, then overcame visiting Hereford United (League Two) 4-1.


At Stevenage, England:


Shane Long scored the winning goal at 87 minutes as Reading (League Championship) defeated Stevenage (League Two) 2-1 on the road to advance to the fifth round.


At Torquay, England:


Matthew Tubbs scored the only goal of the match at 39 minutes as Crawley Town----the last remaining non-league club left in the tournament---defeated Torquay United 1-0 on the road.  The Red Devils from the National (Blue Square Premier) Conference, the fifth level of English soccer advanced to the Sweet Sixteen.


At Watford, England:


Ashley Barnes took advantage of Watford goalkeeper Rene Gilmartin's boo-boo at 16 minutes to give Brighton (League One) a 1-0 road win over the Hornets from the League Championship.


At Southampton, England:


Michael Owen (65') and Javier Hernandez (75') provided the second-half goal power as Manchester United overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit on the road and topped Southampton (League One) 2-1.

FA Cup Third-Round Replay: Gunners Too Much For Leeds

At Leeds, England:

Thanks to goals from Samir Nasri (5'), Bacary Sagna (35'), and Robin Van Persie (76'), Arsenal won their FA Cup third-round replay on Wednesday, 3-1 on the road over Leeds United (League Championship).  In the Round of 32 on January 30, the Gunners will host Huddersfield Town from League One.

At Manchester, England:

Carlos Tevez (15'), Patrick Vieira (37'), Adam Johnson (38'), and Aleksandar Kolarov (90') each scored once as Manchester United downed visiting Leicester City (League Championship) 4-2.  Notts County (League One) will host the Citizens' next tournament encounter at Nottingham, England on January 29.

At Cardiff, Wales:

After a scoreless regulation, Jonathan Walters scored twice in overtime (92', 115') as Stoke City defeated Cardiff City (League Championship) on the road, 2-0.

At Wolverhampton, England:

Five differnet goal scorers----Steven Fletcher (5'), Geoffrey Mujangi Bia (61'), Kevin Doyle (66'), Matt Jarvis (74'), and David Jones (90')----each scored once as Wolverhampton demolished visiting Doncaster (League Championship) 5-0 to set up a fourth-round January 29 fourth-round home encounter with Stoke City.

At High Wycombe, England:

Mathieu Manset scored the only goal of the match at 32 minutes on Tuesday as Hereford United blanked hosts Wycombe Wanderers in a battle of League Two clubs to advance to the fourth round of England's FA Cup.

FA Cup: Crawley Town Knock Off Visiting Rams To Become Lone Non-League Club In Field of 32

At Crawley, England:

Sergio Torres scored the game-winning goal (90'+1) as Crawley Town (Conference National [Blue Square Premier]) defeated visiting Derby County (League Championship) 2-1 in Monday action from the third round of England's FA Cup.  With that win, the Red Devils become the only remaining non-league club to reach the fourth round.

Their next FA Cup contest will be on the road against League Two club Torquay United.

Third-round action in England's FA Cup continued on Sunday.

At Manchester, England:

A successful penalty kick from Ryan Giggs at two minutes held up as Manchester United defeated visiting Liverpool 1-0, spoiling Kenny Daglish's debut as the Reds new manager (he replaced Roy Hodgson on Saturday).

At London:

Jermaine Defoe scored twice (58', 60') as Tottenham Hotspur blanked visiting Charlton Athletic (League One) 3-0 in a local London derby.

At London:

Daniel Sturridge (33', 52') and Frank Lampard (78', 79') each scored twice as Chelsea delivered a 7-0 home horsewhipping on visiting Ipswich Town (League Championship).

At Leicester, England:

Manchester City and hosts Leicester City (League Championship) battled to a 2-2 draw.  James Milner (23') and Carlos Tevez (45') each tallied once for the visiting Citizens, while Souleymane Bamba (1') and Andy King (64') each delivered a goal for the Foxes.  A replay will take place at Manchester City Stadium on January 12.

The third round proper of the FA Cup, the round which sees the first appearance by English Premier League and League Championship clubs, started play on Saturday.

There was also one second-round replay on Saturday.

At London:

At Lincoln, England:

In a battle of League Two strugglers, Matheiu Manset (4', 72') and Stuart Fleetwood (36', 43') each scored twice as Hereford United defeated Lincoln City 4-3 in a second-round replay. The Bulls will take on fellow League Two club Wycombe Wanderers at High Wycombe, England in third-round play this coming Tuesday.

At Blackburn, England:

David Hoilett scored the game's only goal at 77 minutes as Blackburn defeated visiting Queens Park Rangers (League Championship) 1-0.

At Bolton, England:

Kevin Davies (83') and Johan Elmander (89') came up with the late goals as Bolton Wanderers fought back a challenge from Blue Square Premier (English National Conference) club York City 2-0.

At Brighton, England:

There will be no return to the FA Cup final this time out for Portsmouth (League Championship) as hosts Brighton & Hove Albion (League One) took a 3-1 decision.   Chris Woods (26'), Ashley Barnes (45'), and Francisco Sandaza (90') each tallied once for the Seagulls.

At Bristol, England:

Sheffield Wednesday broke open what had been a scoreless deadlock with three second-half goals---one each from Gary Teale (49'), Neil Mellor (55'), and Clinton Morrison (65')---as the League one club ended up hammering League Championship stugglers Bristol City 3-0 on the road.

At Burnley, England:

Clarke Carlisle (4'), Tyrone Mears (21'), Chris Eagles (50'), and Graham Alexander (76') each tallied once as Burley (League Championship) doubled up visiting Port Vale (League Two) 4-2.

At Burton upon Trent, England:

Shaun Harrad scored both goals (82', 90') as Burton Albion (League Two) knocked off Middlesborough (League Championship) 2-0 at home.

At Coventry, England:

Freddy Eastwood (15') and Carl Baker (17') each scored once as Coventry City held off fellow League Championship club Crystal Palace 2-1 at home.

At Doncaster, England:

Doncaster (League Championship) and visiting Wolverhampton battled to a 2-2 draw that sets up a replay at Wolverhampton, England on January 18. The homestanding Rovers got their goals from Billy Sharp (41') and James Hayter (43') while Nenad Milijas (38') and Stephen Hunt (58') each tallied once for Wolves.

Diomanky Kamara's hat trick (32', 59', 76') helped Fulham spank visiting Peterborough United (League One) 7-2.

At Hudderfield, England:

Early goals courtesy of Scott Arfield (7') and Gary Roberts (8') stood up as Huddersfield Town (League One) blanked visiting Dover Athletic (Conference South, sixth level of English soccer) 2-0.

At Kingston upon Hull, England:

Mohamed Diame's double (21', 77') proved vital as Wigan Athletic defeated Hull City (League Championship) 3-2 on the road.

At Norwich, England:

Jimmy Smith's goal at 20 minutes provided all the scoring as Leyton Orient (League One) knocked off Norwich City (League Championship) 1-0 on the road.

At Preston, England:

Goals from Paul Anderson (50') and Luke Chambers (89') enabled Nottingham Forest to defeat Preston North End 2-1 on the road in a battle of League Championship clubs.  The loss spoiled ex-Hull City manager Phil Brown's debut as PNE's new boss.

At Sheffield, England:

Kyle Walker (9'), Marc Albrighton (33'), and Stiliyan Petrov (90') each tallied once as Aston Villa made short work of hosts Sheffield United (League Championship) 3-1.

At Southampton, England:

Lee Barnard (53') and Guilherme Do Prado (88') provided the second-half scoring as Southampton (League One) blanked visiting Blackpool 2-0.

At Stoke-on-Trent, England:

Tuncay Sanli's goal at 45 minutes salvaged a 1-1 home draw for Stoke City against Cardiff City (League Championship).  Michael Chopra scored at 8 minutes for the Bluebirds, who will host a replay scheduled for January 18 at Cardiff, Wales.

At Sunderland, England:

Craig Westcarr (5') and Lee Hughes (75') each scored once as Notts County (League One) knocked off Sunderland 2-1 on the road.

At Swansea, Wales:

Garry Monk (25'), Darren Pratley (35'), Cedric Van der Gun (68'), and Scott Sinclair (82') each tallied once as Swansea City (League Championship) blasted visiting Colchester United (League One) 4-0.

At Torquay, England:

Eunan O'Kane provided the game's lone goal at 6 minutes as Torquay United (League Two) knocked off visiting Carlisle United (League One) 1-0.

At Watford, England:

Marvin Sordell scored twice (68', 82') as Watford (League Championship) obliterated a one-goal halftime deficit and overpowered visiting Hartlepool United (League One) 4-1.

At London:

Jonathan Spector (29') and Frederic Piquionne (90') each tallied once as West Ham United shut out visiting Barnsley (League Championship) 2-0.

At Stevenage, England:
