Amway Canadian Championship: It's Impact Vs Whitecaps For CONCACAF Champions League Berth

The semifinal round of the Amway Canadian Championship concluded with two games on Wednesday.

At Montreal:

Marco Di Vaio scored twice (44', 90') as the Montreal Impact more than overturned their series-opening defeat from last week at Toronto by demolishing visiting Toronto FC 6-0 in the second game of their two-match series and winning the series 6-2 on aggregate.

At Vancouver, British Columbia:

Goals from Corey Hertzog (58') and Shaun Saiko (OG-67') carried the Vancouver Whitecaps to a 2-0 game-two road win over FC Edmonton (NASL) and a 5-2 series-aggregate victory.

The two-legged final between the Impact and Whitecaps will begin on May 15 with the return match on May 29.  The winners will play in the group stage of next season's CONCACAF Champions League.

Amway Canadian Championship: Caps, TFC Take Semifinal Series Openers

The Amway Canadian Championship, the winner of which, would qualify for next season's CONCACAF Champions League, commenced on Wednesday with two games.

At Edmonton:

Tom Heinemann scored the winning goal in the 88th minute as the Vancouver Whitecaps took the opening game of their series with FC Edmonton (NASL) 3-2 on the road.

At Toronto:

Doneil Henry (49') and Andrew Wiedeman (81') each scored once as Toronto FC blanked the visiting Montreal Impact 2-0 in match one of their two-game series.
