Two games were played on Tuesday as Group B play in the UEFA Champions League concluded.
At Liverpool, England:
Despite Steven Gerrard's well-taken equalizer on a free kick in the 82nd minute, FC Basel, with Fabian Frei scoring in the 25th minute, still locked up a Champions League knockout-stage berth with a 1-1 road draw with Liverpool, while the Reds will have to settle for a Europa League knockout-stage berth. Here are the happy players from the Swiss club celebrating after the draw that sent them into the UCL's Round of 16.
At Madrid:
With his successfully-converted penalty kick in the 20th minute, Cristiano Ronaldo (shown here celebrating with Gareth Bale and Javier Chicharito Hernandez afterward) opened the scoring for Real Madrid as the defending champs, who won all the group-stage contests, demolished visiting Ludogorets Razgrad 4-0 and ended the Bulgarian club's European adventure.

At Sofia, Bulgaria:
Rickie Lambert (8')and Jordan Henderson (37') each scored a goal as Liverpool settled for a 2-2 road draw with Ludogorets Razgrad. Dani Abalo (3') and Georgi Terziev (88', seen here, second from left) delivered the goals for the Bulgarian club, who were still eliminated from the tournament.

At Basel, Switzerland:

At Madrid:
Karim Benzema, seen here celebrating, scored the only goal of the match in the 27th minute as Real Madrid laid claim to a knockout-stage berth after shutting out visiting Liverpool 1-0.
