UEFA Champions League, Group H: Chelsea, Valencia Advance To Knockout Stage; No CL Knockout Stage Run For Ajax

Two games were contested on Tuesday as action in Group H of the UEFA Champions League concluded

At Amsterdam, Netherlands:

Rodrigo Moreno Machado scored the only goal of the match (shown here) in the 24th minute as Valencia knocked off Ajax Amsterdam 1-0 on the road to advance to the Champions League's knockout stage.

Last year's surprise semifinalists will have to settle for a Europa League Round-of-32 berth.

At London:

Cesar Azpilicueta scored the winning goal as Chelsea upended visiting Lille 2-1 to gain a Champions League knockout-stage berth.

Final Group H Standings:

1.Valencia (GP: 6; GD: +2; PTS: 11)
2. Chelsea (GP: 6; GD: +2; PTS: 11)
3. Ajax Amsterdam (GP: 6; GD: +6; PTS: 10)
4. LOSC Lille Metropole (GP: 6; GD: -10; PTS: 1)

Valencia and Chelsea advanced to the Champions League's knockout stage; Ajax Amsterdam qualified for the knockout stage of the Europa League.

UEFA Champions League, Group H: Valencia And Chelsea Draw In Spain; Ajax Jumps Blues And Bats To Move To Top Of Group; Mastiffs Out Of European Competition

Wednesday saw two games played in Group H of the UEFA Champions League.

At Valencia, Spain:

Carlos Soler (40') and Daniel Wass (82', that's him celebrating here) each scored once as Sevilla gained a 2-2 home draw with Chelsea.

Mateo Kovacic (41') and Christian Pulisic (50') each scored once for the visiting Blues.

At Villeneuve-d'Ascq, France:

Hakim Ziyech (2') and Quincy Promes (59') each scored a goal as Ajax Amsterdam climbed up to the top of the Group H standings following their 2-0 road win over LOSC Lille, who were knocked out of European competition.

It turned out to be Quincy and Hakim's excellent adventure as the two are seen here celebrating as the Dutch champs climbed past Valencia and Chelsea to the top of the group standings.

Group G Standings:

1.    Ajax Amsterdam (GP: 5; GD: +7; PTS: 10)
2.    Valencia (GP: 5; GD: +1; PTS: 8)

NOTE:  Valencia had a win and a draw in two contests against Chelsea.

UEFA Champions League, Group H: Chelsea And Ajax Battle To Wild Deadlock In London; Oranges Knock Mastiffs Out Of Tournament

Two games in Group H of the UEFA Champions League were contested  on Tuesday.

At Valencia, Spain:

Dani Parejo (PK-66'; that's him celebrating after scoring), Adama Soumaoro (OG-82'), Geoffrey Kondogbia (84'), and Ferran Torres (90') each scored a goal in the final half-hour as Valencia overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit to deliver a 4-1 beatdown to visiting LOSC Lille that knocked the French club out of the tournament.

At London:

Jorginho converted two penalty kicks (5', 71') while Cesar Azpilicueta (63') and Reece James (74') each scored once as Chelsea came back from three goals down to gain a 4-4 home draw with Ajax Amsterdam.

Tammy Abraham (OG-2'), Quincy Promes (20'), Kepa Arrizabalaga (OG-35'), and Donny van de Beek (55') each scored once for the Dutch club.

UEFA Champions League, Group H: Late Goal Carries Chelsea Past Ajax; Lille And Valencia Draw In France

Two contests in Group H of the UEFA Champions League were played on Wednesday.

At Amsterdam, Netherlands:

Michy Batshuayi scored the only goal of the match in minute #86 (that him celebrating here after scoring) as Chelsea knocked off Ajax Amsterdam 1-0 on the road.

At Villeneuve-d'Ascq, France:

Jonathan Ikone's equalizer at the death (90'+5; that's him celebrating after scoring) carried LOSC Lille Metropole to a 1-1 home draw with Valencia.

Denis Cheryshev tallied for the Oranges in the 63rd minute.

UEFA Champions League, Group H: Road Wins For Ajax, Chelsea

Group H play in the UEFA Champions League continued on Wednesday with two games.

At Valencia, Spain:

Hakim Ziyech (8', that's him celebrating with teammates here), Quincy Promes (34'), and Donny Van de Beek (67') each scored once as Ajax Amsterdam dominated Valencia 3-0 on the road.

At Villeneuve-d'Ascq, France:

Kevin (Tammy) Abraham (22', on the right here) and Willian (78', center) each produced a goal as Chelsea defeated Lille 2-1 on the road.

UEFA Champions League, Group H: Ajax, Valencia Off To Group-Stage-Starting Wins

Two games were contested on Tuesday as action in Group H of the UEFA Champions League opened.

At Amsterdam, Netherlands:

Quincy Promes (18'), Edson Alvarez (50', that's him, here celebrating), and Nicolas Tagliafico (62') each scored once as Ajax Amsterdam dominated visiting LOSC Lille Metropole 3-0.
