Jonathan Rodriguez scored the game-winning goal in the 75th minute as Cruz Azul held off fellow Mexican club Tigres 2-1 in Wednesday's inaugural Leagues Cup Final.

CRUZ AZUL DEFEAT TOLUCA TO WIN 6TH CONCACAF TOURNAMENT TITLE

At Toluca, Mexico:

Mariano Pavone scored in the 41st minute on Wednesday as Cruz Azul gained a 1-1 game-two road draw in the CONCACAF Champions League final against fellow Mexican club Toluca and, with the series at 1-1 on aggregate, won their first CONCACAF club championship since 1997 and their sixth overall.  

The Mexico City-based club will play in December's FIFA Club World Cup in Morocco.

Late Goal Gains Road Draw For Tigres In Clausura Opener

At Mexico City:


Lucas Lobos' 70th-minute equalizer lifted Tigres to a 1-1 road draw on Saturday with Cruz Azul in the opening contest of the Clausura portion of the Mexican Primera Division season for both clubs.  Christian Gimenez scored in the 6th minute for the hosts from the Mexican capital.

Tigres Come Back To Gain Home Draw In Season Opener

At San Nicolas, Mexico:


Hector Raul Mancilla Garces equalized at 37 minutes for Tigres as the hosts salvaged a 1-1 road draw with Cruz Azul in the Mexican Premira Division season (Torneo Apertura) opener on Saturday.  Javier Aquino Carmona scored at 19 minutes for the visiting Mexico City club.
