FC Tokyo End Season With Easy Home Win

At Chofu, Japan:

Lucas Severino (8', 17') and Nemanja Vucicevic (82', 90'+2) each scored twice on Saturday as FC Tokyo concluded their J.League Division One campaign in 10th place following their 6-2 home fistbeating of second-placed Vegalta Sendai.

Senfrecce Hiroshima, who own the league title (and a berth in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup), Vegalta Sendai, and third-placed Urawa Red Diamonds, all qualified for the group stage of next season's AFC Champions League.

They would be joined in Asia's most prestigious club tournament by the winner of the Emperor's Cup.  Should one of the top three clubs in the final league standings win the Cup, fourth-place Yokohama F. Marinos would play in the Champions League's group stage.

Vissel Kobe, Gamba Osaka, and Consadole Sapporo, who finished in the bottom three places in the league standings, were relegated to J. League Division Two and will be replaced by Ventforet Kofu, Shonan Bellmare, and promotion-playoff winners Oita Trinita.

Kazuma Watanabe's equalizer in the 84th minute---along with Yuhei Tokunaga's earlier tally (21')----lifted FC Tokyo to a 2-2 Saturday J.League road draw with Gamba Osaka, both of whose goals came courtesy of Akihiro Ienaga (37', 62').  Gamba blew a chance to climb out of the drop zone with the draw and must defeat Jubilo Iwata or else, in all likelyhood, be relegated to J.League 2. for next season.

Ryo Okui scored the game's lone goal in the 27th minute as Vissel Kobe stayed out of the J.League's relegation zone thanks to their 1-0 Saturday road win over FC Tokyo.

Marcus Tanaka scored the only goal of the match in the 30th minute on Wednesday as Nagoya Grampus defeated FC Tokyo 1-0 at home in J.League action, enabling them to stay in the race for a berth in next year's AFC Champions League.  Despite the setback, the visitors were assured of remaining in the top level of Japanese soccer for next season.

Nemanja Vucicevic delivered the equalizer in the 74th minute on Saturday as FC Tokyo gained a 1-1 J.League road draw with Cerezo Osaka.  Yusuke Maruhashi scored for the hosts in the 50th minute.

Junior Dutra delivered a hat trick (18', 71', 87') as Kashima Antlers received a big boost in their fight to avoid relegation from the J.League with their 5-1 Saturday home domination of FC Tokyo.
